Went with Paige to take the grandkids to their riding lesson. Absolutely gorgeous place, 2,000 acres of trails, beautiful scenery.

The kids had an absolute blast!! Feeding the chickens and riding Doc, one of the special horses that Julie, the trainer, has for the kids, were the highlights of their time there.

As for me......well, I'm in love!!!

Meet Penguin, the farm rooster who greets everyone vociferously when they arrive, and allows a special few the privilege of getting up close and personal.

    Turns out I'm special!!

And this here's Doc, the sweetest horse on the face of the earth!

I used to ride years ago, back in Australia. I talked to Julie some about maybe riding again. She's go a couple hundred miles of trails that we could ride on, but her rule is that she won't take anyone on her trail rides till she knows they can handle a horse. So she requires at least one riding lesson beforehand so she can see that the potential riders know what they're doing.

I am definitely going to sign up! Being around the horses again really rekindled my mania...I used to ride every weekend, it's what I lived for for months and months before I got the travel bug!

It was a lovey time for all of us. :)

Wow! What a wonderful day out! That is an absolutely GORGEOUS place, isn't it? It looks like a movie set, so perfectly groomed and photogenic in every detail.
I think it looks quite clear that both Doc the horse and Penguin the rooster have fallen in love with you - they've got very good taste!:like:

Thanks for sharing your day out, it's brought a very broad smile to my face this chilly morning. :)

The place looks wonderful, glad the kiddos (you included) had a great time. Cuddling a Rooster, looks like you two bonded very well.

We went horseback riding many years ago while on vacation in Oklahoma City.....youngest daughter and I had really nice, calm, gentle horses (her first time ever, my first time in almost 40 years) poor Randy had Satan's Spawn. Needless to say we had a good ride but Randy had....well, you know....one H*** of a ride.

Well Penguin certainly has taken a shine to you hasn't he? As Zuzu said he has good taste!!:) Doc looks like a real gentleman and is the ideal ride for kids to experience being in the saddle. I'm so pleased you all enjoyed your day out and I look forward to hearing how your riding lesson goes.

What a lovely place! And look at Penguin, he's a handsome chap. Lucky you! I love the photo of your grandkids and Doc. He looks very kind. I hope you'll get to go riding on those trails. It sounds absolutely wonderful. There's nothing like a hack on a lovely day, is there?
