Oh man oh man!!! I have become addicted to the virtual garage sales that are becoming so popular now on the net. I am a member of several different buy/sell/trade sites (all Facebook groups) that are the equivalent of garage sales....just online!! One of the sites has 12,000+ members, one has 8000+, and one 4,000+ so I'll leave it to your imagination as to the huge assortment of "stuff" that is offered. It's been SO useful to have these sites. You have to pick and choose of course, just like any actual garage sale, but it's so handy, and so convenient, to "shop" in my jammies at 5 in the morning while sipping coffee We found this gorgeous, handmade, one of a kind hutch on one of my sites for $125.00! I mean, come ON...you just can't beat that kind of deal, y'know? Any of you use the BST sites in your area? Show us your finds!
Love the hutch and that's a great price. I'm not on Facebook so I haven't heard about the virtual garage sales, they sound a lot like what Craig's List was originally intended to be.
I could not do Facebook before because of the dial up. Got wifi up and running yesterday. I am still getting used to the speed. Before I could go make (and sometimes eat) a sandwich while waiting for something to load. Where do I find these groups? I have not been to facebook since I got the wifi .
What a lovely piece of furniture Ronni and at such a great price. I don't do Facebook but for bargains like yours I'm willing to give it a try in the hope they do the same type of thing over here.
Mart, in the little search box on Facebook (usually located upper left hand corner somewhere) search BST, or buy sell trade, both with and without a preface of your town or suburb. What will come up will depend on how the creator of the group named it. But your search criteria will be something along those lines.
I scored a brand new juicer from a FB buy sell page for $30. I have used it every single day since I bought it! I have also had good luck selling a few things this way
Go Netty! I've sold enough stuff over time to buy myself a new iPhone and an iPad. And bought some cool things on the various BST sites too....smaller stuff mostly, not typically big items like the hutch. Just things that make life easier, or more pleasant. I haven't had much success buying clothes though, which I've done a couple of times. I really need to try stuff on before I buy. Other than that though, I've done pretty well purchasing from the BST sites. If I'm not sure about the item, I request more information, another picture, maybe from a different angle, measurements...whatever will tell me more. And clearly it's a popular thing....one of the sites I go to all the time has over 12,000 members!
