Today I watered all of my conservatory plants and tender seedlings, then gardened for three customers which included cutting two huge lawns on a steep slope, which is a killer, then came home and watered the plants in my greenhouse. I need to pot of some squash plants but have no compost so fingers crossed, that is tomorrow's job.

Thanks Sjoerd...it's amazing what can happen when you change the resolution from the largest to the smallest...lol. Total cost for making that box was under $15. It took some time to put together but well worth it! The hardest part was explaining or showing the guy at HD how long I wanted the pipe cut. When he saw me put the first side together...he got it!!!

Great photos, Hummerbum. Your plants look great.

EJ, it sounds like you had a busy day and accomplished a lot. YAY

I sunk two 18 gallon containers into the garden, filled them with the soil taken out plus more and planted spinach, Mescalin, and Green onions. I tried some container growing last year and liked it, so there will be more this year. There are less weeds, watering is easy, plus not as much bending.

Got pretty much the rest of the backyard covered in cardboard and mulch. Lot's of space now for a lot of the junque I have been saving until I found the perfect place and some potted plants.

I actually went out and did some stuff today!

I weeded half of the front bed (hey, that took awhile!) and added plastic edging along the sidewalk edge to help hole in the soil and mulch.

I cleaned up quite a bit of ground elder and then planted some phlox's. I cleaned the edging of some of the garden paths, so that when I lead folks up them at least they will look decent.

Normally when speaking of ground elder removal, I speak in terms of kilometres. Yesterday's result was too much, so I can tell you that I cleared up two huge plastic trugs full.

I pruned the little willow, now that it has stopped blooming.
Some Clematis vines got cut back as well.

No one came by, so I had fewer breaks....:(
Well, you know how it goes--you get in a groove and just sort of keep on going. I am feeling it this morning.

I just had to show the little strawberry beds (they are already blooming). They are nice and clean and have gotten cow manure pellets...they are getting rained-in today whilst I am at home planting seeds.

I just now planted 2 types of runner beans, 2 types of climbing French beans. They were planted in root-trainers. Just a matter of waiting now; hopefully they will be ready by the middle of may.

Again rain today....but frost is forecast for the coming four days...so the strawbs and blues will have to be covered with fleece--rawin or no rain I shall have to venture out to the lottie on the bike. BAH!

Well, here at home, I planted the corn with the hope that I can get it in the ground around the middle of may. The ground is ready and waiting...now just a little meteorological co-operation. (Doya hear that Mother Nature!)--cupping my hands and shouting at an easily audible decibel level....

uhg! sorry to hear it.fully it won't get that cold, but I always prepare for it if they are calling. go get it done.
I was too tired last night to write.
but I got almost 100 tomatoes planted in the high tunnels, 30 peppers in one row, too. watered and watered the greenhouses. picked up stuff that was sitting around that just needed to be put away or thrown away. how do I accumulate thsi stuff. Adrian worked first thing this morning so I didn't have him home to help until later in the day, but he got the field ready to plant sweet corn. that will be mondays job.
Kevin sprayed fruit trees last night, we picked up the pea fence from last year and plowed the garden there, Kyle mowed and helped me move the rabbit hutches, Kevin also fixed my one side roll up on a high tunnel. it was not working. found the thermostat in the greenhouse needs to be replaced. I have it set at 35* to make it run. so I ordered two new thermostats. now I just realized I forgot about the inflator fan in the other greenhouse. it needed ordered too.*sigh* maybe tomorrow I can run and get one. Spring is really here and there are so many things to get done and the fire has really stretched us thin. everytime we need to repair something we are struggling to get that done. We have NO tools. nothing. no air compressor to even inflate tires. until last night. no electrical supplies to fix the bad connection on the tractor for the sprayer. another trip to the store for connectors and a heat gun. a fitting broke on the new air compressor and we had to go back and get a new one for the NEW compressor so we could inflate the tire....there isn't a battery charger back there anymore. we needed to borrow the neighbors....to start the little tractor for the first time this year. *sigh* yesterday was a long and tiring day.

Slip-potting azalea today. The rooted cuttings that come from the nursery are just little fella's and need some down-time to loaf and build up their feet.

Still on search for R fastigiatum.

Peggy and I were harvesting a bumper crop of dollar weeds that took over one of our garden boxes while we weren't looking we were doing good chasing the long white roots from our loose garden soil when we ran into a fire ant nest. All the excuse we needed to take a break. Hopefully the poison will work fast enough for us to get it done this afternoon.

Mom and I got the peppers and tomatoes planted and the yard mowed. She pulled a few of the random weeds that have popped up. Its going to be a bad year for weeds as I tilled through the grass.

I'm currently looking at my sweetcorn and bean seeds and am convincing myself to hold off on planting them.

Oh Carolyn, I realize how east my little "Play" garden is compared to all you do. I wish for good things to come your way and soon.

Sjoerd, put up your Bumbershoot and brave the weather.
