image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg brought home the last of the leeks that were planted last summer, before they run to flower. They were chopped, washed, dried and packed and put into the deep freeze, then, whenever a recipe calls for onions, im will grab a handful of leeks instead.

    Bad pun, great leeks!
We tried leeks once or twice, but getting the sand out of the leaves, even close to the white part, was so difficult. How do you manage it?

Marlingardener, I garden on horrid clay so have that to try and get out. I alway chop them and rinse rinse rinse. I don't try bigger chunks as I got fed up with mud on my plate.

Those are some great looking leeks EJ! I like to dehydrate leeks, and keep them in a sealed jar in the pantry. They are also great to throw into soups etc

I would love a dehydrator. I have tried dehydrating fruit and veg in the oven but it is a bit hit and miss.

Wow, those do look good. What is the difference between leeks and onions? My hubby thinks he is allergic to leeks, but can eat onions. Not sure why he thinks that so I do not cook with them.o_O
