What have you done today in the Garden?

me out!!
I'm am loving my new set up!!! Oh by the way y'all....I demolished my first grow box and gained more space!! Gotta make a reflective board for the maters in the window though!! Sorry for the last pic going sideways!!

This morning I weeded the little corner bed out front. After my chiropractic appt, Ill mulch that bed then work on weeding, planting and mulching the bigger front bed

Things are looking better and better at your place. Everything is looking really good, esp. those toms. Things are going well for you.

 

Well, I got the corner bed weeded, and the front bed weeded and mulched and my annuals (the ones that were still alive anyway, Id bought them a few weeks ago and wasnt able to get them in the ground on time) planted. I got everything done up to the far side of the porch. I need to buy more brick edgers to complete the nice edge I started last year...only need 40 more *lol* I mainly didnt finish because I was getting worn out. I think I spent about 6 hours outside today :O Got a bit of color from the sun.

 

Yesterday I planted 6 Asparagus crowns and set out a few Yellow onion sets.

 

I found 70 cinder blocks for .50 cents a piece. Laid them out for a raised bed to put my asparagus in. And planted some flowers in the holes. I'm going to use the rest of the blocks to build an outdoor kitchen.

 

Ok. So I went out to plant the asparagus and got to thinking that this might be a little different than just planting them in the ground. Question thread to follow.

 

Other gardeners may have a different view. Here is mine. I dug a trench, created six small hills, spread out the roots, or runners laying the crown of the plant atop the small hill, covered all but the very tip of the crown. If in doubt, google it.
Oh, great buy on the cinder blocks, I think. I used cinder blocks for flowers. That works very well.

Yesterday I started weeding the side bed. Was out there maybe 4 hours and only got 3/4 done The side is more neglected than the front, so it had more weeds *sigh*

 

I wish that I could give you a prezzy for weeding, for I know what a heck of a job that is. Yeah, oké, the rewards are high...but the work it takes getting there....dear, oh dear, oh dear.

 

Oh weeding is so very tiring. Especially on hot days.
Sjoerd, yes to green Asparagus. I have never tried the white.
Today, I have only walked around the garden, lamenting the
uneven pallet I set out my kale seedlings in. Asking myself,
will I be able to dig beneath the eastern corner enough to level
it without messing up the entire thing.

Well I had the landscaping done. But need to tear it out and redo it so I can get them planted proper. They wouldn't get much sun the way it is right now. Until of course they grow up a bit.

But yeah anyway. Rain or shine I will have them in the ground Sunday. Its my only day off this week or next.
