I'm off to visit with family in Muscatine, Iowa and Omaha, Nebraska. I've only had brief encounters with the ones from Iowa in years. The ones in Nebraska, I have no memory of my cousins. My Aunt Glenda, is my oldest surviving relative, she's pushing 90. 8 hours of driving at 65/70 mph to Iowa, then another 5 hours to Omaha. Audio books by Neil Boortz, and one about Andrew Jackson along with Statler Bros, and other assorted country/folk music for my listening pleasure. I hope to be home by Thursday, with all the rain we've had, I'll have to bale some hay out of my yard! Hopefully, I'll still be able to find the Asparagus and get it weeded out. Enjoy that dirt under your nails, and grass/dirt stained at the knee's pants. Don't forget to wear a hat!
Bye and have fun. Pull over if you start getting drowsy. Blast the air to stay cold to keep yourself alert. And take lots of pictures so you can share your adventure with us!!
Enjoy your drive and the visit. Take care and what Ronni said. 8 hours is what we use to get from here to Oslo, 600 km or 373 miles away.
Your cousins and aunt are in for a treat--a visit from you! Enjoy, go ahead and brag about how popular you are here on the Stew, and please drive carefully. Let us know how it all went when you get back home to your hayfield!
Have a safe and fun trip and a good visit with relatives. We did 9 hours from home to Springfield Missouri one day and about 8 hours from there to Chicago a couple of weeks ago. Long drive but pretty scenery most of it. So I don't envy you those hours at all.
Enjoy your time with your family. Your long journey will be worth it as I'm sure you'll have lots and lots to catch up on. Stretch your legs every couple of hours is my advice. There's nothing worse than being stiff and sore after a long journey. Take care and we'll be waiting to hear all about your trip once you're home again.
Hello boys and girls. Drove for 10 and 1/2 hours to get home. 751 miles. Wonderful visit with family I met for the first time. My double cousin and I are so alike we could and did finish each others sentences. We've only met 4 times in our lives. I'm off to bed. An Aunt had a stroke following hip replacement surgery yesterday. Time to visit folks in hospital. If I can learn to get the pictures from my phone to my computer, I'll try to post a few of people you don't know. LOL Great Googly Moogly!!! I might be able to sell what I cut on my lawn. Where did I park that hay rake?
Welcome home. It sounds like a good trip with some good moments there. You'll have to tell us all about it.
Glad to have you back with us FBG. Sounds as though you had an enjoyable time with your family. Sorry to hear about your aunt but hope she recovers well. I'll be waiting to see your photographs and hear about your trip.
