I feed the Orioles right next to our bedroom window so we can leave the curtains open during the day and watch the Orioles and other birds that come up to eat the jelly/jam. I just love the Orioles because of their beautiful colors and the sound they make when they come up to the feeders. They arrived last week and I was ready for them. Here is one of the biggest jelly/jam eaters in my yard...the House Finch.... Here is the female cardinal, she is loosing her feathers now...look closely at her...
I agree - such wonderfully coloured birds and great photographs Sherry. If we had Orioles here I doubt if I could drag myself away from my bedroom window.
Sherry8-we have also been getting quite a show with the Orioles we have at our feeders also. Plus some critters that one would not think to have a sweet tooth.
Sherry our Orioles have thinned out quite a bit for now. Plus I have not seen any Myrtle Wablers yet this year. I'm thinking with all the storms they have been having in the central states that some of our birds have gotten blown off course. I will have to check the the Cornell Bird website.
After these photos the numbers dropped way down Tooty2shoes. They were nesting and just came back about a week ago. I agree with the storms and just our weather has changed things. I didn't have quite a few birds stopping here as they were traveling through like they normally do.
beautiful birds. We had the row of pines cut down that one nested in every year but I saw it yesterday fly farther up the tree line to a new site. Yay! I felt bad knowing we were cutting down the site, but the trees were dead and falling everywhere. nice to see yours. I should put out a feeder but I haven't so far. all the past years I put them out none came. What do they eat besides jelly?
while they are nesting they feed the young bugs I read so I bet they eat those all of the time. plus I found this while reading: Planting bright fruits and nectar-bearing flowers, such as raspberries, crab apples, and trumpet vines, can attract Baltimore Orioles year after year...
lovely pics. Ive just recently got into attracting birds into the garden with all kinds of goodies and stuff and find it quite relaxing. Im sure we all do right...
