image.jpg Oriental poppy image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg I grew the peony from seed and at last it is flowering

image.jpg image.jpg I saw this huge shell pot sitting outside a local house amongst a rubbish pile so Mark knocked and asked if they were chucking it out, and they were, so I now have it planted up with my auricula.

EJ how long did it take for the peony seeds to mature into a flowering plant? I'd like to try planting the seeds from ours.
Like the others I love that shell and just wish I had neighbours that were throwing things like that away.
I've never seen a Tigers eye rose before and am now drooling over yours. I must go looking for one as I've fallen for it - big time.

Thanks for sharing the pics EJ. Love the reclaimed shell. Just wondering, did Mark look at you like you were crazy when you told him you wanted it or did he just shrug his shoulders and go with it? For some reason, when I read your entry his reaction intrigued me.

I've always wanted to try growing a Peony from seed ... How long did it take to bloom?
Your garden looks great EJ, so lush and full. Beautiful!

You have some beautiful flowers, EJ. The Peony you grew is beautiful as is your roses. I love the last rose though, it has such a bright cheerful flower.

I second that motion---to let it grow.

EJ--that ceramic auricular snail looks pretty cool. Do you plan taking it in during the freezing months?
I do not put such things in my garden, but my bride certainly does. She liked the the snail as much as I did.

    What a find.

That blooming peony looks like its awfully low because the blooms seem to be at the same level as the Pulmonaria's leaves. Is it a dwarf sort?

What is the hot pink flower in the 5th photo? You have an amazing garden, I love the way it rambles with spots of color amongst the greens, so natural looking

Thanks for all of the lovely comments. The peony took several years to flower.....i would say at least five, and the reason the blooms are low is because they are so heavy and I havent propped them up, also the pulmanaria is huge, they have loved the cool, wet yet mild spring. The pink flower is pink campion which is really a wild flower which I love, hence it is rampaging around my garden.

As for marks reaction when I told him I wanted the shell? He shrugged his shoulders and went and knocked on their door. We didn't get it immediately, the home owners weren't sure if another family member wanted it, but last weekend, whilst we were on the allotment, they brought it round and left it on our doorstep with a lovely note.

I see how it grows. Your Pulomnaria looks quite healthy. Mine is winding down now. no more blooms at all.
