Ruby chard harvest. This is from last years planting and it has run to seed so I cut I straight down to the ground, harvest the leaves and the plant will send up lots of lovely new leaves in a couple of weeks time Hopefully, the first of many. I must confess, it,didn't make it home. Yum yum yum. I love little gem lettuces, they are the perfect two person lettuce and so buttery and delicious My round courgette, slower to,produce than the normal long ones but just as delicious And this is a soft, non hearting red lettuce My baby greenhouse tommies are coming on well And I fear my yellow courgettes will be responsible for my courgette glut My wheelbarrow finally fell to bits a couple of weeks ago so I filled it with compost and sowed some cut and come again salad leaves. Just look at them grow.
I love cut and come again leaves as you can pick just enough to eat without wastage. What a great way to utilise a defunked wheelbarrow!! Little gems as still a firm favourite of mine and I think they always will be. My strawberries are just forming but I doubt I'll get ones as big as yours.
What a lovely harvest! The chard is such a great gift for the second time around! Your red lettuce looks like the "Midnight Ruffles" we plant. We are harvesting lots of squash right now, but don't have the round striped ones you have. Love all the goodies you get from your allotment!
All of these foto's are so good to see. Your lottie is so far along there. We are beginning to harvest a few things, but you are far ahead. It is looking great, EJ.
