My clematis are really coming on strong now and showing lots of blossoms.

The other 'thug'. Princess of Albany at over 14 feet tall and 7 feet wide. I hope she hasn't strangled Jackamani.

Beautiful , just beautiful... 2ofus....I have to confess  that clematis is one plant I just can't grow and have success anymore.. I use to grow them in a perfect spot but that is now covered by concrete.

Thanks for the nice comments. Deanna, Happy belated Birthday! I hope your Birthday present does great (isn't it fun to pick out just what you want for your special day!). I really don't do anything to mine but plant them so they must just love the soil/ climate or something! I've decided to give the unknown purple parasol clematis (the 2nd one pictured) away so I'll have a place to transplant Jackamanii. I'm afraid the Princess is going to choke it out.

Hmm? It seems that I forgot to post a picture. This is Niobe and one that was suppose to be Niobe. I think they are pretty together though.

Your clematis are lovely. I had one growing up the side of this house that I transplanted to a back fence as a patio was going in. It seemed to grow really well for a couple of months and even sported a lavender coloured flower then just suddenly died back and is now a brown stem on a trellis on the back fence. I haven't really had a chance to look at it but I'm allowing it to bide its time and if it comes back come spring "BONUS" but if it doesn't make it - I know I'll consider another one.

I had one a few years ago that died off on one side. From what I read it was Clematis Wilt. According to what I read your clematis may come back next year or even 2 years. It doesn't happen often with the smaller flowered clematis.

@2ofus - I'll look up clematis wilt and see what it says. I have never grown on before. It grew really well when I initially transplanted it then just died back. If I don't see new shoots come spring I'll see what is brought into the nurseries here and probably replace it with somebody else. My entire back area lacks color however the fence would really benefit from a splash of colour.

The Jackamanii is finally in full bloom now a has grow stronger! I was worried about the 'thug' choking it out.

I finally found the pictures of my clematis - granted since I transplanted them they just slowly died back and right now they're nothing more than a bunch of dried brown sticks tied to a trellis in the one corner of the back yard.

These were the clematis when they were on the trellis on the house
