We have dragonflies all over the place this year! One even perched on my shoulder and I had to gently persuade it to not come into the house on/with me.
This is a Lance Tipped Dragonfly, which according to a wildlife photography site we frequent, are very hard to get a picture of because their wings are mostly transparent. Somehow my husband managed it.
When the young chickens decide to chase dragonflies, the resulting races are a hoot! The dragonfly always wins (ha, ha, I can fly higher than you can!) but chickens being chickens, they don't learn.

Lovely shot MG, say thank you to your husband! I love dragonflies also, we see them in our bogs and they have always looked alien to me.

WOW Jane your husband must be so patient. What a shot he's achieved of a very handsome dragonfly.

I would love to see the chickens chasing the dragon fly....I have to watch my Chihuahua because she likes to go after the small white butterfly because they fly so slow and are on my flowers. Great picture, a thank you to your husband.
