We weeded 3 rows of beans and then I picked tomatoes the rest of the day... I am tired and they aren't even very nice. Finally, we got some rain and they pretty much mostly cracked, oyvey! and today is Adrians birthday. He is 22 and caity just turned 20... I have no teenagers anymore.

Picked tomatoes and sprayed my zucchini with baking soda and water (it has fungus) and then dumped some 20-20-20 onto all my potted patio plants.

Needed to stock up with peanuts for our garden visitors. Went to the garden centre and came away with far more than just peanuts. Best of all a nice Cordyline Astralis ' Torbay Dazzler' to add to the patio collection. This is rather smaller than one we have had for 20 years. And even that is dwarfed by one in my daughters garden. :) My current avatar is an interpretation of my larger Cordyline.

@Raddang - are the leaves on your new plant variegated? It definitely looks pretty heathy. Did you get the container too?

@Islandlife. Yes, IL, it is a nice green with cream varigation. And yes, my wife could not resist a new pot to go with it. She preferred it to a terracotta.

@Raddang - it definitely looks way cool. The leaves contrast nicely with the pot (AND I DO like that pot too!) ;) :like:

Well, I pulled the cukes and replanted cucumber seeds in the greenhouse, clipped all the leaves off the tomatoes in there and the fruit... replanted the zucchini outside as the man at the chem co. said to wait 30 days to pick zuuchins if the plants even live. and picked tomatoes outside... off to do more now. yhen going to a cook out picnic... yum!

Treated the bees for varroa mites.
Removed and slung the last of the honey. There was a lot.
Continued harvesting, Food Bank gathering and clean-up and planting of the patches.

Planted 20 flowering Allium bulbs for spring colour :)

Fall bulbs are just arriving in our stores now - shopping days ahead.

Watered lettuce, pea, radish & bean seedlings. Green beans are forming on the new bean plants so that is good. Harvested the last cantaloupe. The poor plants (cukes & Asian melons too) look so ravaged with blight I will pull them very soon. Asparagus contines to grow like block busters. I might have planted them too closely. They look like an impenetrable thicket.

As Sjoerd is wont to say, I had "a natter" with a fellow community gardener. He was dressed in blue jeans & was even leaning on his shovel! Get the picture? Very buccolic. I didn't fit the picture, I'd come from work, dressed in heels!

Cleaning up, watering the strawbs and sprouts. Bottling more and more honey. Keeping work at a minimum in this heatwave that we are having. Have been melting and filtering wax from the bees. I looked in on the bees and they are putting-up so much honey for the winter that I am not sure if I will need to supplement their stores.

Sjoerd, glad to hear how well your bees are doing. We here in the eastern US are hearing stories of dead bees & more dead bees in Florida due to spraying for the zika virus. I don't know what ot think about it.
