Ah Pink,..i was thinking about Salvia today,..we mostly see the Purple/Bluish type hereabouts,..isn't it great to see all those Bees coming into the garden. I always nip off the blooms of the Coleus as soon as they start,..just to make the plant become bushy,..rather than leggy,..i never heard of the leaf becoming diminished in colour if the plant is allowed to bloom,..though it sounds logical enough seeing it has completed its task to produce a bloom then a seed. Pinks and whites,..three days ago.
I loved listening to the music too Philip. Very relaxing - so much so that I've played it a few times already today.
Eileen,..that's nice to know,..sometimes i like to go back through the videos to see where such and such a plant used to be,..then it can be too much of having heard the same music over the years. I have three Amaryllis and they flower every year though not at the same time as the previous years,..looks like they might flower before Winter this year. Same applies to my Hyacinth,..it flowered in January now its flowering again,..this time it was outside until yesterday. As it is today. Last January.
Gosh Philip your amaryllis and hyacinth really are flowering early!! Mine don't bloom until after the first snowdrops are seen in the garden (January/February).
Eileen i expected the Hyacinth to bloom the same time as last year,..which was January like yours,..but to see it bloom in September,..i wasn't expecting that. The Amaryllis bloomed in December 2013,..then July 2014,..March 2015,..amazing!. Dec 2nd 2013. March 18th 2015.
Thanks Deanna,..a lot has to do with the Micro Climate in my garden,..you can be sure if its 65F for the County you can add another 15F for my garden. I removed most of the supporting canes this week as all the Delphiniums are finished and cut back,..i may take some cuttings from the new shoots appearing now in case the winter kills any of the parent plants. Rose ( Rosa 'Handel' ),..in bloom now,..i am hoping to train it to grow up and over my back window and door. Antirrhinum 'Snapdragon',..this is just one plant. Pulmonaria officinalis 'Lungworth'. Purple Alyssum,..really showing its colour. Hydrangea Mophead,..still in bloom though starting to fade in colour. Some of my rose bushes have finished blooming and those i have cut back and taken some cuttings. Not so with,.. rose (Rosa 'Ice Cream' ) it will bloom for a spell longer.
Thank you Deanna,..up until yesterday we were having the warmest September on record,..since 1911,..today we had the warmest day on record for September 34C-90F,..it was the same for England. I started cutting down my Hollyhocks yesterday,..though many were still in bloom they were not impressive as most were spent or damaged. Cut down Symphyotrichum novi-belgii 'Asters',..just beginning to bloom.
Thanks Eileen,..i have noticed the winding down in the past two days,..leaves falling,..our official Autumn starts next week,..planning for next Summer has started. The Chrysanthemums i have being caring for are ready for either planting out or upgrading into bigger pots,..i am still undecided. You always get one bloom from a plant when it should have finished weeks ago,..Lupine. Geranium. Nasturtium. Some No ID pink Roses.
