Unfortunately, mobility problems prevent me from getting out into the countryside at this most colourful season of the year. But I still have a bit of autumn colour on my patio with a little Acer that I have had for many years and, growing in a pot, it remains small and almost Bonsai
Raddang, that is a real beauty. It's shape is artistic...looks like something one might see at the oriental section of the Biddulf Grange Garden. Quite lovely, really.. Sorry to hear that you are unable to get up and about--I hope that you will soon be better.
That is a lovely tree! Congratulations to you for keeping it so healthy for several years. Growing trees in pots must take a true green thumb.
Your tree looks like a splash of sunshine in your garden. I have a soft spot for acers and have five already.
Thanks Sjoerd, but it is just a case of age catching up. A common problem, chronic peripheral neuropathy, so it's progressive. But I can still drive the car, just can't get out and walk the countryside anymore. Not downhearted though, plenty worse off than me. Just trying to sort a holiday for early next year.
Gordon Bennett! I had no idea. That is a bit of an inconvenience, isn't it. Were your docs able to ascertain the aetiology? It can sometimes be difficult to establish that, as the R/O list is as long as my runner beans. Hopefully you are lucky enough to not have severe symptoms. Anyhow, your Acer is a real looker and I hope that you can get those hols sorted. There are so many choices in terms of venues. I have tried little Acers like that twice in the lottie, but both died after 2-3 years. They are too expensive for me to be a hardhead and keep trying, so I leave those beauties to folks who have better conditions and a greener thumb than I. I could have kept them in a container, but I have no place to put it in the winter. I am still admiring your specimen.
Thanks for your responses and concerns folks, very friendly of you. My intention was not to 'lay on' my own problems but just to explain that the little acer is about as much colour as I see in autumn nowadays. Time was, a few years ago, when we would travel far and wide to catch the autumn colour. Don't get me wrong, I am not despondent, just that we have to face facts and accept things that change with age.
I love acers and would love an Acer Bonsai, your very lucky to have yours and must surely enjoy it daily raddang. My same color Acers (2) are Orange Dream which grow very quickly. K
Your Acer is a lovely shade of yellow. Nice that it has kept its leaves while it has turned vs having them drop. Looking lovely and some really nice color for this time of year.
