you just can not ...can not fathom the vast size of it. These are the same people in the next photo... way far away. 1/2 mile maybe.... JUST amazing. I have no idea HOW they scaled from the main wall out onto this pillar. here we are at the beginning of the canyon.. his morning at the canyon is a totally different color. such soft and delicate pastels... wait til I get my pictures of the painted desert off the camera and on to here, too... the colors are just as stunning. many more but it will have to wait til I am home again. have a great week all.
Super, super, super foto's Carolyn. My mate Karel was over there and just got home yesterday. It would have been something if you passed each other there along the rim. The southwest of the u.s. is my very favourite section of that country....the stunning landscape just does not stop, and this time of year is the very best for picture-taking or painting because of the clearness of the air and the tones of colour. I just can't wait until you are back and begin showing and telling. These teasers are splendid. Thank you for taking the time to post a preview.
Gorgeous! The Grand Canyon is something I have wanted to see since I was a little girl and saw it on 'The Brady Bunch' haha One day I will get there!
Thank S... I wish I had posted my intent earlier, but I wasn't sure until the day we let that we would actually be able to go. As soon as I get back home,I will pos more. today we are going to church and then up to the Hoover Dam... then on to San Diego to see family nd then back home, but I am so ready to go home already. I am a real home body. I don't think I have eer ben away from home for 2 weeks. At the end of each day I am soooo tired. Netty, I had no inention of ever getting here. The petrified forest and the painted desert were right on the way, so we stopped there, too, but the pictures didn't record to my card they went right to the camera memory. I need a cord to move them, I think. anyway.. will post a bit more, but I am not taking so many pictures I can't remember where we were when I took the pics. We went to the Mystery Castle in Phoenix and the top of Red mountain... no camera that day, but I did have my new phone which I have no idea how to use so there wasn't much to show there, but there are a few.. wait til I get home.
Oh meid, if I had known that you guys were going out that way, I could have given you some tips of special things to see......like Antelope Canyon for example. Well, I hope that you have a good time in San Diego...it is a nice-looking town, I find. Enjoy your trip back. I can't wait til you are back.
Hi Carolyn,..great pictures one and all ,..hard to believe you could force yourself away from your growing things but nice to see you had a go,..very tiring work is travel ,..still its the change of fantastic scenery that should boost up a person,..though you will appreciate home when all the travel is over and get back to familiar soil.
Beautiful photos...we were just in an active quarry looking at stone this morning and I thought that was even pretty with all of the layers of stone and the walls were so high when we were down in there.
Hi carolyn, Splendid photos.....can't wait to see the rest. I will be watching for your next post.....
Hi Carolyn, I sm so so glad you got away from your farm to vacation with your husband!!! You so deserve a break from the toil. I was also glad to see how young you look in the photo....younger than I imagined. Maybe that is why you are so energetic! I hope you continue to enjoy the rest of your trip.
Carolyn, great shots and you look great! Looking at the picture of the couple sitting at the edge of the pillar makes my knees go soft!!!
Thanks one and all for the nice remarks about the photos... I couldn't begin to dream up the landscapes out there. It was incredible to see. I am home, but the internet has been wonky this week... yesterday there was none today... I am hoping to get some more posted but first come a dr.'s appt for my fil. then maybe I will have time to finish it up, but it is raining... and everytime it rains the internet doesn't work. I keep telling them something is getting water in it and they "can't" find it. sigh. Mary... getting close to 50 now. KK, now that the garden is ...oh wait let me rephrase that...the garden should be done, but it isn't. I am still picking tomatoes and peppers and there are cukes just starting in the greenhouse.... I will get your seeds in the mail. I have the envelope addressed. I know your birthday is sometime this year. I told you any day is a great day is for a birthday. thanks for being patient.
Welcome home C ! Great to hear that you are back now. I can see that you are right away busy with this and that. Well, when you get time and your compi is working properly.....show 'n tell. Good you're back.
Carolyn, Thanks for the share! I find the southwest scenery quite amazing. Such harsh unexplainable beauty. Hope to someday do some car camping through the area. It got me excited about our January trip to Phoenix, AZ and then heading out to Quarzite for the Rubber Tramp Rendezvous. My poor sweetie gets coerced into the strangest going-ons. We will try to see some of the attractions we missed last January. A week is never long enough. Hope you throughly enjoyed yourself and all is back in order at home. Tomatoes, peppers to eat and cukes starting??? How easy to forget that the rest of the world isn't windy, rainy and in deep layers of clouds. Enjoy that fresh produce, it sounds so lovely it makes my mouth water.
