No particular point to this thread other than anticipating seeing flowers soon now 99.9% of the white stuff has left (AND better not come back) and mulling over what colours & flowers I want to see out front this coming spring/summer/fall and remembering some of the terrific displays I had last few years What are you looking forward to garden-wise this year ?
Any of the beautiful flowers you've shown us would be welcome here. However you can keep the slug!! I'm just waiting for my daffodils to open and be followed by tulips and hyacinths. Already the trees are putting our fresh leaf buds so the blossoms won't be too long either. I do so love the re-awakening of my garden after winter.
Spring is wonderful but I am still waiting for it.... Star Magnolia that I forced a few years ago. Dwarf Daffodil Primrose Helleborus Helleborus First up for me is the Helleborus...I just looked this morning..Nothing coming yet......sorry to say...
Hey Islandlife, I love your pix! Yours too Waretrop. A sight for sore eyes. Yesterday I met with a friend & we checked out the local community garden. She chose a plot & she & I ordered veggie seeds together! Can't wait.... Amazingly I still have live bok choi seedlings in the garden !!?? Not sure if this is a good thing or not. We have had a very mild winter.
Love the banana slug. They are rare to see since the invasive slugs have taken over here. Great Native American stories about them. The snow drops and heather are in full bloom and the hellebores and primroses are starting to bloom. Many of the perrenials are waking up. I really need to get the fall garden cleanup started.
Super posting ISLAND...your you other folks. Things are beginning to look a bit more like a real spring, but there is a way to go still. Once again---great foto's.
Islandlife ...is that alstroemeria? I buy 2 plants every year..of course it can't over winter here in Wisconsin because of our cold winters...but it is one of my favorites. I got this bouquet from one of my Grandsons and his girl friend and children for my Birthday. [
I love daylilies...and can't wait for them to bloom. This is our last summer here at this home and we will be moving in late August to our lakefront property. I am taking quite a few daylilies with me but I have over 100 of them so I doubt if they will miss them. Daylily, Newberry Festival... ( photo / image / picture from Sherry8's Garden ) Daylily... Planted this clematis last year...it had just one bloom. I was surprised it bloomed at all actually, planted it late enough that I didn't expect much. So far this year it's coming up with numerous buds..excited!!!! And this hibiscus! Yellow is my favorite color. Fingers crossed that my lavender will come back! Can't wait for my roses to bloom again! Dozens and dozens of peony buds..won't be long now! And I am definitely planting more of this coleus!!
This has been the WORST MARCH since we began to collect statistics. Last year I had over 200 daffodils finished by now. This year I maybe have a dozen now up and blooming. The peonies haven't even broke ground yet and nothing much is moving at all. Not sure 'when' to expect anything this year as weather-wise we've been awful.
Last year's drought was hard on the garden, and also on this gardener. I just look forward to a wetter year, so that my garden will thrive once again. I especially look forward to the Peony's each year, and this year is no different.
