This week is calming down now. Tuesday Randy was up and in his office at work (he works at home now) about 7:30 when he heard a noise like some one pounding on our front door. No one there, but when he came out he saw a bright light flashing in the backroom.....turns out the washing machine plug had decided that it was time to torch itself, he was able to extinguish the fire before anything more than the cord and part of the shelf next to the washer was in flames. Off to Lowes that evening for a new cord for the washer, a replacement fire extinguisher and a new smoke detector for the back room.
Wednesday morning Randy noticed that the AC compressor was running an awfully long time without the fan coming on to blow cool air around. There is a relay that was stuck and if we had not been home when it stuck it would have continued running until it burned out the whole compressor and whatever other damage it would have done. That would have been a costly repair too.

Never thought about these things when we leave home for a few hours or a couple of days before. Next month when we are gone on our anniversary trip for 5 days we will be unplugging everything we can think of.

    Hey everybody! Happy Earth Day.
I'm alive and well. Just super duper busy it seems.
Between jobs and volunteering efforts... and gardening of course... I just don't seem to have much time to play online.
I needed to find the name of a plant I'm moving, or removing perhaps, so had to come here to look in My Garden to find it.
And figured while I'm here, I'd better at least say hello! Hope everyone is well and enjoying your gardens!

Hi Cherylad  We miss you!
Good Sunday morning all. Currently 9°C and sunny. Yesterday was free compost day at the town arena, and so I went and got 3 loads. Today, I will have to spread it around.
I have a lot to do today, and I'm not sure I have enough energy to do it all! Isn't Sunday supposed to be day of rest??
I'll do what I can, but I'm not going to stress myself out about it. There is always tomorrow :)

Put in my 2 weeks notice at Walmart 2 days ago. I'm going to go work for my chiropractor, being his assistant while his current assistant is on maternity leave. When she comes back (they're not sure if she will come back, and she'll probably be part time if she does), Ill learn a bit more of everything else besides her job.

Everyone who saw my notice got a kick out of it, I wrote it in icing on one of the big 12" message cookies :D

Good Monday morning all. Currently 6°C and clear. Off to work for another busy week! Hopefully things have dried up a little bit since Friday. No rain in the forecast this week.
Have a great day all :)

    Good morning all.
Hey, Cheryl hope you drop in again soon and stay awhile longer. Miss you! How's the brothers trip around the world going?

Our youngest grandson is in a psychedelic-ly weird version of Alice in Wonderland....one of the songs is The Who "Who are You?" (actually their recording with the kids singing along) that was the second best part, grandson's portrayal of Humpty Dumpty was the best!!

I have so many knitting projects started and most not even half finished (I always find another, sometimes more interesting, project to start on before I finish the previous one) so I spent the weekend watching Nat Geo programs and knitting. Back to real life today, laundry and I have to get out in the yard during the mornings this week or I just might miss the last of the comfy weather as the summer temps arrive in a few days bringing an end to my gardening until October.

Cool morning today--just made it to 61 at 9:45 a.m. I pulled turnips, weeded the potato patch, and have two loads of laundry on the lines.
Cheryl, I've been wondering about you. So glad you're back, and I hope you can visit often.
Toni, could you post pictures of some of your knitting projects? I bet they are great!

Good Tuesday morning all. Currently 6°C and cloudy. Still rather dark at this hour, but starting to lighten up a wee bit.
SO tired this morning, and hope the day passes quickly. I'm dreaming of curling up in my bed already LOL
Have a great day all :)

Overcast this morning and temps in the low 60's. I planted three long rows of green beans, harvested edible pod peas and lettuce, and checked the carrots. While I was doing this I was listening to our smoke detector go off--oh, wait, that was George the mockingbird doing his detector imitation! I'd say we are the only kids on our block that has a mockingbird smoke detector, but birds fly. I think George is sharing his new-found sound.

Our bird feeders are attracting lots of birds right now. Lots of red winged blackbirds and some big blue jays and an assortment of smaller birds. Sometimes we see cardinals and a red headed flicker. Of course, under the feeder we see squirrels coming to help clean up the ground. We bought a big bag of peanuts in the shell (unsalted) and put some out each morning for the squirrels and see some of the bigger birds helping themselves. dooley

Good Wednesday morning all. Currently 10°C and cloudy. I am working too hard, and don't have enough time to Gardenstew!
Gosh I'm going to have to slow down - so many posts to catch up on! Tonight is the night :)

Good morning all. Yesterday was not as hot as predicted since clouds moved over, only reached the mid-80s. Last night a thunderstorm rolled over us, moving too fast to leave more than .30 of an inch but it was followed by a line of nice cool breezes and temps. Too sloggy in the black clay to dig today but great weather for reading.

Good Thursday morning all. Currently 14°C and cloudy. We are expecting a high of 26°C and thunderstorms this afternoon.
Things should really start growing after that! Off to work, exhausted as usual, for another day working as a one woman army.
I sure hope they get me some help soon! Have a great day all :)
