I bought a bag of sheep manure compost. I would like to use some for my tomatoes and squash when I put the sets into the garden. I really need your advice. So, what do I do? Do I use both sheep manure compost and commercial fertilizer? How much would I put in the hole for the tomato or squash? The instructions on the bag only state for acreage. I don't want to over kill and burn my plants up. You are all so knowledgeable so I know I can't go wrong following your advice.
You do not need commercial fertilizer if using manure compost. I use goat manure compost from my goat barn, I add about a cup or two to the bottom of each tomato plant.
I would never use commercial fertilizer unless it is organic. Fresh sheep manure may burn your roots. But manure compost, use just like deepwoods said.
