Eileen i certainly do have a lot of plants,..its like a jungle just now but an organized one seeing there are paths to walk through,..rain today,..all day so no walkabout,..just pictures within reach of the back door lol. Asiatic Lily 'Red Joy'. Lilium 'Dimension'. Rose ( Rosa 'Fond Memories' A view. Mophead Hydrangea.
June 29th 2017. Another Arisaema bloomed in front of the previous one,..the old bloom can just be seen peeping out,..this is another bloom i nearly missed as one day its a bud then next time one looks its in full bloom. Rose ( Rosa 'Handel' ),..many many buds on this rose bush,..its located over my back door,..no fear of getting a thorn in my head as this bush is thorn less,..it also has a nice scent. Hollyhock. The Curry Bush just starting to bloom. The far end of the garden is very green and shortly will be filled with lots of pink blooms from all the Malva Moschata 'Musk Mallow'. Clematis 'Dorothy Walton',..is showing a mass of big blooms.
Your Arisaema is gorgeous and to get another bloom is wonderful and shows that it's right at home in your garden. I like the thought of thornless roses as I'm always getting pricked by mine when I tend to them - no matter how careful I think I'm being. I had to untangle my long hair from one the other day as the wind wound it around the stem of one of my roses. I left quite a few strands behind I can tell you!!
Eileen it surely is eye catching,..i think there are about seven of them in the garden,..i am of the opinion that the dense foliage of all the plants creates the right setting for the Arisaema,..i would like to have them all in one place though i will wait until the bulb gets bigger in each one,..these plants attract flies lol,..not what everyone would like,..then after blooming then the leaf appears. Thorns,..oh boy you really got stuck with thorn and hair,..some thorns can be very sore,..apart from being prickly sore,..its something in the sap of some that make them really hurt.
With Eileen getting her hair caught up in a rose bush thorn in mind,..i checked the rose bush growing over my back door,..lo and behold there is one branch with thorns,..all the others are clear and this branch has produced blooms,..strange thing nature,..no thorns below. I have six Hosta Plants in containers,..only one was attacked by slugs and this was the one without the copper band or strip around the container,..the copper band below. After weeks of being in leaf,..not a sign of a slug. The first bloom of the Malva Moschata 'Musk Mallow'. This Oregon Lily bloomed last year from seed,.. so i was delighted to see it appear again yesterday. The path below has got very narrow.
Such beautiful flowers! It reminds me of a jungle with all the different leaves and bright flowers with your pathways weaving though it all. Gorgeous!
Hi 2ofus,..it really is like a jungle,.. surrounded by flowers some much taller than myself,..its a nice feeling being sort of enclosed . ==================================================================================== Hi Dave,..thank you and welcome back . ==================================================================================== July 3rd 2017. A very young Blue Tit,..no blue showing as yet. Hydrangea Mix,..Mophead Pink and Blue,..Lacecap Pink and Blue. A No ID Rose,..not one from a cutting,..i have had this rose over 13 years,..at one time it was located at the end of my garden,..it didn't thrive there,..its nearer the house now and seems happy enough
Two images of Rose ( Rosa 'Sunsprite' ). I visited the local Hardware Store today which also has a Garden Section,..drawn in like a magnet,..all i wanted was Suet Balls for the birds and that was all i bought,..i was tempted by all the plants but i have no space left for even one,..what i learned was the name of a Hosta i have,.. which i mentioned lately that i had no name for. Hosta abiqua 'Drinking Gourd',..its a blue/green tone and best of all Slug Resistant,..there was me thinking i had drove off the slugs with my Copper Band around the containers,..and my mix of Liquid Soap and Neem Oil,..ok they worked on the other Hostas i have lol. We have had some very windy days here,..a portion of my fence blew down and branches broken on my Fuchsia Tree,..not too sure about the patch job,..in Grey,..couldn't get any other color/colour.
Eileen,..your comment makes me feel a bit better as the shock of seeing the blast of grey was putting me off to the extent i was thinking of spraying it ,..i see what you mean now,..it does make the colours stand out,..i might just get used to it . The amount of loss to the Fuchsia Tree as seen below,..quite a big loss. To fill the gap where the patch is,.. i was lucky to have a few Purple Fennel in pots so just one should cover quite a good area. Hosta 'Patriot' on the right and Hosta 'Gold Standard' on the left,..just coming into bloom. A No Id Rose,..i recovered from a neighbors garden some years ago after the house was empty for some time,..luckily i did as the garden was cleared of everything. Another No Id Rose. The Cape Fuchsia 'Funfare Orange',..on the right of the image below was never intended to be there,..it was a cutting in a six inch flower pot,..which i had forgotten about,..it had rooted right through the bottom of the flower pot so i just left it be,..it looks like its happy there.
July 8th 2017. Clematis 'Freckles',..in bloom now. Hosta 'Gold Standard Bloom'. Cape Fuchsia 'Funfare Orange',..handful of blooms. Malva Moschata 'Musk Mallow'. Hollyhock. Digitalis 'Foxglove'. This one is occupied.
Gosh Philip your garden just goes on and on producing beautiful blooms. I really like your Musk Mallow - such a delicate flower. I don't think I've ever seen a clematis like your Freckles - it's stunning!! I've discovered a couple of foxgloves that appear to have moved since last year. None of the original places have any at all. One is white and the other is purple. The bees love them and the borage patch which has doubled in size. I just wish there were butterflies around but, so far, they are absent from the garden.
Eileen,..over the years i added flowers that bloom one after another throughout the seasons,..Roses are nearly there until Winter,..at present there is a huge amount in bloom,..apart from the Clematis Freckles just starting,.. so is the Musk Mallow,..and Lilium 'Pixels Mix',..after this it will be the Hibiscus and Lavatera,..dead heading is a full time job lol. Malva moschata 'Musk Mallow',..which i have in two areas,..the first below is 4ft high,..the second grown from cuttings which i started last year,..is almost 3ft high. Lilium 'Pixels Mix',..just started blooming yesterday,..the bloom tends to look down rather than the usual which faces the sky,..quite a tall plant and reaches 80 cm=31 inches high plus. I managed to get four cuttings about three inches long,.. of four Hebe Bushes,..they are mostly ignored and left in pots that get moved around because they are in the way,..they really hit my eye this year as they started to flower,..two species below,..no names however. Another image of Clematis 'Freckles'. Unable to resist the Hydrangeas as they are right under my bedroom window.
On May 28th i took the cuttings below from Malva moschata 'Musk Mallow',..as mentioned back then the green shoots were on the tip of a long dry stem and would not have survived. Here they are now on July 10th. Three Rose Cuttings taken around that time,..two are of a Pink Rose and one is a Peach. The Pink Rose belongs to the two cuttings on the left. The Rose Below,..is of the cutting in the pot on the right,..its Rose ( Rosa 'Sunsprite' ) There is no guarantee that the cuttings will produce the same bloom as the parent plant,..which makes it more inviting to have a go at cuttings,..one never knows what nice surprise will appear. Rose ( Rosa 'Korresia' ),..starting its second wave of blooms this season. Rose (Rosa 'Fragrant Cloud').
