I loved seeing your collection of churches, Prim,
they make a beautiful display for Christmas,
and they look so lovely there, I don't know if I'd be able to store them away after the holiday.

I'm afraid I've collected far too much of far too many things over the years.

Dooley mentioned depression glass, I have quite a few pieces,
but I really like my old Jadeite most of all, we use it daily.

Thanks, Jan. It sure is a heap o' junk, isn't it?
One of these nights, there's gonna be a creak, followed by a crash,
when that poor ol' cabinet gives up the fight. :-?

Great collection Zuzu! I like those frogs too. My hubby seems to have started collecting frogs. At least he stopped collecting LIVE ones! For a while there, you never knew when one would hop out at you!

Very nice collection. I have a Jadeite cup and sauce that was my grandmothers. It sits on a shelf with a lot of other things we have collected over the years.

Thanks, everyone, you're all very kind.

Netty ~ Too cute, about your hubby and the frogs. :-D
The "frog thing" started for me when I was a kid, I've amassed quite a few of the little croakers,
but no live ones ............. :D ............ indoors.

Polly ~ I loved reading about your cup and saucer,
I think I originally fell in love with Jadeite over my grandmother's kitchen table.
She had mugs, and only at her house was I allowed the "big girl treat" of morning coffee.
Of course, it was really just a mugful of evaporated milk with a splash of coffee in it,
but, oh how good it tasted on a cold Pittsburgh, PA morning. :-D

Wonderful! Is that fox the handle for the cabinet?? Or is there even glass there? Green is my favorite for everything, and you make me want to start collecting this too. :-D I have a streak of practicality that makes it hard to have too much around the house that has "no use" - dishes are marvelously practical and beautiful at the same time. How does the jadeite handle microwaves?

Thanks, Prim. You're right, there're no doors there, we removed them.

I don't know what's recommended, but I've never had any problem with putting
any of my FireKing brand Jadeite in the microwave,
after all, it was designed to be oven-safe glass.
(I might not be quite as confident with some of the other manufacturer's pieces)

Because it is glass, I do try not to "shock" it too badly,
for instance I wouldn't plunge a hot piece suddenly into cold water.

Oh, and the fox is a kitchen twine dispenser,
I found a photo of a similar one online

His "spectacles" are the handles of a pair of scissors.

I think the picture must be getting larger. I keep discovering new things in the cupboard. Dooley
