I spent most of last summer and fall working on these, some went to the Women's Shelter and some were holiday gifts for my grandkids. Assorted sizes and all went to the Women's shelter.... and yes I did weave in the ends before delivering them. This is the funnest and easiest pattern for ponchos that I love to use..also Women's Shelter. I made my daughters and our grandson's girl friend reading shawls, so they could keep warm while sitting in bed reading. And from what I have heard back they have all been used many times.
Oh my you have been busy haven't you? Everything is gorgeous and I'd find it hard to pick just one as a favourite. I love the colours and patterns. I'm sure that each and every one is going to be really appreciated.
Thanks Eileen, all of those I made this time last year but I have already got several projects going for this year. And since I changed yarn on those Dr. Who scarves I was working on the last one up to about a week before Christmas. This year I have one baby afghan almost finished and yarn and pattern for another one in waiting. These will be going to Project Linus along with two my m-i-l did for them too. I am hoping to get at least one project for me finished and ready to wear if we get cold weather next winter. It's been years since I wore something I made for myself.
They are really nice and will be appreciated for years to come.....I see people who talk about their special person who made a afghan that lays on their couch or bed and they have such warm feelings about it.
Great looking stuff, Toni. You must be a popular lady, if you gift or sell some of these. I know the Shelter folks are really happy with these.
Thanks you all, I enjoy knitting and since collecting yarn is one of my hobbies it's nice to have an outlet so I don't feel so guilty about my stash.
Toni, what a great way to spend the hot months--making beautiful knitted items for others. Do I remember correctly that you also donate to the Linus Project? Not all of us have your talent and ability, but I'm sure we can all find an outlet to fill the days when we can't be outside. Or even when we don't WANT to be outside!
That's right Jane, I have two baby afghans ready to deliver to the closest yarn shop that accepts them.....and it is a great place for finding new yarn
Wow Toni they are lovely. I also love to knit. If I am not gardening then you will usually find me knitting(To many projects and not enough finished ) I am at the moment knitting socks and making my first cardigan.
CariAnn, I have so much sock yarn and so many sock patterns that I have not even started on yet. Sometimes I take the easy way out and knit tube socks. I met a lady in a restaurant last month who was knitting while waiting on her food to arrive, so we talked until it did. I asked her how many projects she had started but not finished, her husband gave a laughing snort and she said about 10....I only have 8 so I had better get busy making new starts.
Haha. Tell me about it. I have loads of sock yarn, dk and aran. But have to admit some of the yarn is to pretty to knit on yet haha. I admire anyone who goes out and knits in public. I wish I could, but had a few not nice comments. I do knit in my car.
Don't let the **** get you down. I always have my knitting with me but usually for Drs office waiting room time. I really am inspired to have some with me next time we go out to eat so I can get in some added knitting time. Hubby is sometimes playing a game on his phone so why shouldn't I be doing something with that spare time too. I know what you mean about pretty yarn. I took a break from knitting in the mid-1980's and started making quilts. But so much of the fabric I collected was just too pretty to cut into and besides if I used it I might not ever find that print again! But when I stopped quilting and went back to knitting I had hundreds of pieces of fabrics to sort through. I kept all the snowflake prints (of which I have over 300 with just 2 of them being duplicates) but either gave away or sold all the rest....and that took some courage.
