What have you done today in the Garden?

Thanks Hummerbum... I am feeling better. I just cough up/out a lung every now and then today.

I went out to the hightunnel for a bit today. pulled out the last row of dead tomatoes and tilled a bit of weeds out with the amish tiller. then worked in the little greenhouse cleaning up a bit and seeding basil, thyme oregano and a few tomatoes

 

Lol...working in the garden will, for sure, loosen things up..smelling those fresh herbs should do the trick!!

 

I managed to get out in my garden. The snow has mostly melted in my garden. I weeded and watered my tunnels. I turned several compost piles.

 

working in the greenhouse for now. cleaning and seeding more today.

 

pruned a couple fruit trees and turned the water on to the two high tunnels to water the raspberries and lettuce. pulled a few bitter cress weeds in there too.

 

I enjoyed a cup of coffee and a burnt link sausage samich (I like burnt) (lol) on the patio early this cool morning before the pollen started for the day!!! Expecting another 70s/80s day. Strolled around my little slice of heaven, watching birds, squirrels..saw a baby woodpecker. I took off all the cover and lights yesterday and visited our only hydroponics store for supplies and conversation. Always a great time there!! This is my view this morning!! Oh yeah..will be moving some baby maters..

 

Hummer, what a great way to start a day! I'm envious of your starts--they look so healthy and eager to grow.
All I did was a happy dance in the guest bedroom because my second planting of Italian parsley is coming up. We never have enough parsley, so I planted another cell pack of it. This just may be the year we have enough!

 

reading all of your posts makes for interesting reading, some of you have snow, some of you have sunshine, some of your gardens are still sound asleep, others are already sowing and growing.

Today was lovely in Essex, although it was minus 2 first thing but the sun quickly burnt off the frost so me and 'im indoors went to the allotment for a couple of hours for a weed, plant and tidy up.

I finally planted my shallots which should have gone in last month but the ground has been too wet and too cold, my new Priscilla gladioli in memory of my nan who died in December and some old daffs which should have gone in back in November!

Home for bacon sarnies, then out into my own garden for more clearing and tidying. I don't cut back at all in the autumn but leave old stems and seed heads for the critters and creatures to keep cosy and fed over winter, but now, the daffs and snowdrops are through so I need to tidy ready for spring. I worked until dusk then knocked up a spicy curry for supper, and I may reward myself with a cold beer to take away the burn. A very good gardening day indeed.

 

Yummy, I will soon be harvesting my first ever Brussels sprouts. They were supposed to be ready for Christmas.

Lovely mild springlike weather this morning. I prepared land for planting peas. I turned some compost and weeded a polytunnel and I harvested a lettuce a salad onion and some lamb's lettuce. I will cut some wood this afternoon.

 

70f today! Wow oh wow!what a nice day. We pruned apple trees today. I have almost all of them done now. 2 large ones left and then on to the grapes. The little green house is chock full of flats of plants.

 

Carolyn, could you post a picture of your little green house? It sounds really interesting.
I tried to finish up cleaning one of the front flower beds, but the wind got the better of me. When you have to catch the stems to cut them off--best to wait for a less windy day!
Inside, I'm moving some of the sage starts to enjoy the natural light at the top of the shelves. I'm worried about the red pepper starts, which haven't even come up at all after nine days.

 

Remind me this weekend if I forget. We have left for the rest of the week already. Have to go to Indianapolis for ceu hours for septic permits.

Jane, do you have your pepper seeds on a heat mat or on top of the refrigerator? Heat makes a huge improvemant be on germination.
