Does anyone know anything about angel trumpets Iwant some of them bad. They are beautiful when they bloom. If anyone has any information I would apprecate it thanks much Margie
I purchased a plant from a garden center years ago, and although the plant won't survive our winters, the seeds do. I just let the plant naturally go to seed each year, and they've come up from seed the following spring ever since. I have the white variety which is exceptionally fragrant. I've noticed that they're becoming more available now, and are commonplace in our area garden centers every spring.
I do know that all parts of the plant are highly toxic. So if you have children, be careful. Mine gets morning and midday sun, afternoon shade. I haven't fertilized it, and I got one good flush of blooms, it is a first year plant though. I expect it to do better next year. I have a Brugmansia, the flowers hang down. The Datura flowers stand up, both are equally beautiful.
I have them both Daturas abd Burgmansias . I have the double purple Datura and seeds to the Double yellow which I plan to plant in my greenhouse.I do have the Pink .I have lots of seeds to the white night blooming ones.
Are you asking about Brugmansia (called angel's trumpets because they come down from above) or Datura (called devil's trumpets because they come up from below?)

That site is usually more reliable but I've seen other errors. The pic accompanying the article that is supposed to be about Brugmansia is a Datura. Closely related, but I would find another article without discrepancies. Brugmansias are a common accent in the landscape in this area, deciduous above-ground most winters, but definitely root-hardy. I have put a pic of the kind that I have in the database entry here: https://www.gardenstew.com/plantstew/9000078 The smell of the blooms on that one is divine! 10 years after asking her question, Margie might not still be curious, but what was your question, Petronius? What zone are you in?
