I helped a friend weed, edge, & spruce up her garden. Her daughter is getting married next Saturday & the ceremony will be in their back yard. It truly looks beautiful!! Wish I had taken photos. I go back on Thursday to give it all a lick and shine, I'll try to take photos then.

I have known this young woman since diapers. So wonderful to see her getting married.

That sounds like fun and it was so nice of you. It is nice to see kids progress to adulthood. I feel old when that happens to me. hahaha.

Ok so hear it is. Got out in between down pours and took some pictures. My biggest problem so far is pests digging up my green bean and sunflower seeds and it raining so hard that it's causing my green bean seeds to float to the surface. Radishes weren't the greatest but I'm gonna reseed and see if they do better. My dad used to grow radishs, and they big and never split. I also installed the drip irrigation system yesterday and of course it's gonna rain most of the week. Potatos seem to be doing goodas well. So that's what's going on. Enjoy the pics. Looks great Nor'thn! Everything (except that poor sunflower ) looks healthy. BTW I have also had trouble starting sunflowers from seed outdoors. In our case it is little chipmunks thst gobble them up.

I harvested another dessert serving of strawberries, basil & spinach for a tomato salad, & kale & garlic scapes for a saute. We had all of the above with lamb chops & roasted potatoes. Delicious!

picked peas again. maybe the last of the snap peas.
weeded the beans.. all 4 rows with the amish rototiller...i am the engine.
weeded in the high tunnel a bit. all around the ghost peppers mostly.
    watered the potted plants again
started cleaning out the little greenhouse so I can' sanitize it.
and clipped the tomatoes up the strings some more.
found a patty pan and sauteed it for supper.

weeded the raspberries some more... and I used roundup. I have three 75' rows that needed attention in the back and two more in the front. hand weeding every last bit of them is not happening. I raked all the old grass and debris out of the row to the sides and squirted the grass I flattened down with a squirt of round up. there! take that and die!. clumps of grass that are not pullable. I have no idea what it is but it is like pampas grass... there is no pulling it! I gave up and gave in. now I need to finish putting the ground cover back down and re lay the drip tape.

weeded the two rows of peas just starting. Kevin thought they were a lost cause, but I didn't. they look like they will be productive if it doesn't get too hot.

I attacked a giant old plain green hosta, trying to dig it up. I plan to put a notice on our community website to see if someone will take it. I think it is just plain old boring, plus the deer just love it. They denude it of all leaves at some point every summer. Winds up looking like a boy with a crew cut. Plug ugly.

This will be the third one I will have gotten rid of. Someone always takes them!

I also began root pruning a redbud sapling, prior to moving that as well. I am on a roll, pulling out plants that don't suit. Watch out, I am woman unleashed! I might just gas up the weed whacker. Watch out world.

Cayuga, thanks. That little sunflower is doing fine. It looks like it's droopy but it's actually bent to the east to reach for the sun. They start their day leaning east and as the day progresses it tracks to the west.

    C. Morn... I have a row of hostas I am moving today maybe, too. but with rain in the forcast I might wait. they are being replaced with rhubarb. Deer haven't been a problem on the hostas but I put helium balloons in the garden and that has really helped keep them away!

Checked the bees and placed a second honey super on the hives.
Plenty of weeding, mowing and strimming. Giving water to the greenhouse plants and the new flowering plants. The Echinacia purpurea are beginning to show their colour now.
There are plenty of apples, plums and blueberries on their respective plants. I am thinning out the apples and plums as the June-drop progresses.

I watered my gardens today, the plants were not the only things soaking wet when I finished. Temps in the 100 deg range with high humidity I was soaked by the time I finished. Some areas got rain last night but not me.
Nothing but 100 deg days coming up through the end of June and then July hits when summer really turns up the heat.

Throw me some heat Toni!! Right now in Wisconsin I'm lucky if I get a high of 75° and in the 60s at night. Its really stunting growth in my vegetable garden.
