The heat started here in late March/early April, my black cherry tomatoes never had a chance, I have gotten 4 that were edible and since we had no winter to speak of one of my Asparagus plants decided to leave without ever saying goodbye and the other has given me lots of fronds and only 2 spears. I tried a 3 sisters bed but I think the girls decided they didn't like each other afterall and moved on.

I helped my friend today who has the upcoming wedding in her garden again. Just final touches on deadheading, edging, weeding. It looks glorious!

I also headed out to the community garden to help with weed wacking the edges of the plots. I am bushed! Here are photos of a few plots in the community garden.

    Okay, that's all folks!

Actually the reason I took all those photos is that I have been tasked with putting a notice up on our community website, looking for interested gardeners. We still have a couple of plots open.

I thought i'd do like the advertising people do & make it look enticing. If you have any thoughts about which photo(s) might attract gardeners, please let me know.

The last couple of days, we put in automatic watering systems. I am harvesting peas and new potatoes and lettuces. We have got our first raspberries. I have been mulching with compost and whatever organic material that I have handy. The compost as mulch seems to really hold the moisture in. I staked up tomatoes yesterday.

Cayuga, for your notice the last photo is likely the most enticing--lots of variety, tidy, and doesn't look as if you need to mortgage the house to get the equipment needed. If there are nurseries nearby, or a hardware store you might get permission to put up a paper flyer.

The third one from the top and the last one I like the best for promoting. You could also have some foto's of harvests and flowers if anyone grows them.
When I did the website for our garden club, I found that what pulled the most aspirants was the wording on the first page of the website, telling a bit about the club gardens and what were available there---a clubhouse, activities, city water and electrical points for specified use.

There may be other ideas, but you can PM me about that if you like.

I liked all your foto's, as they showed me something of how your complex looks and what people there like to grow. It is all coming along quite well it seems. --Chapeau.

Addendum: That was a good suggestion that Marl. had to place flyers. We did that also in garden centra and stores.

Just watered the back gardens, none too soon either. Lots of sad plants about to give up the ghost. Looks like watering will have to happen every morning from now on, just hope even that is enough to keep things growing.

    Hi all,

Well, the wedding of my friend's daughter happened this Saturday. During a rain storm unfortunately! We all made the best of it. It was otherwise a very lovely wedding.

We all reconvened for a bunch this (sunny!) morning & I was able to get some garden photos. You'll see this is a garden with "great bones". Easy to landscape because of all the beautiful hardscaping in place.

I've won the battle and I'm fighting the war! I stepped outside this morning and took a census of my green beans. I have 95-100 bean plants reaching for the sky. Cages are doing their job. Call me the mean bean cause I'm owning this crop!

@carolyn , no, but I can ask my friend. Beautiful aren't they? We had fun putting the container plants together. We really worked well together. Her eye picked up on some things, my eye on others. I'll ask my friend for the variety.

These foto's of yours, Cayuga show a remarkable yard and plots. I see what you mean about "great bones". That is an understatement. I really like the stonework there.
I reckon that you feel like you contributed to the day, don't you.
    Great foto show, meid.

Cayuga, your friend's garden is absolutely spectacular! Such design (much of it attributed to you) and so many colors, textures, and lovely flowers. If I were the bride I'd grab my husband and we'd move in with mama-in-law!
Today I got all my equipment--watering cans, buckets, soft ties--and headed out to the tomato patch. Mother Nature smiled on me and it started to rain. I ran for the barn, the supervising cats headed for the garden bench shelf, and we all waited out the light rain. I decided to go to the house, the cats decided to go to the porch, and all of us were smart because a torrential downpour started. We received 3/4" of rain within 20 minutes.
I just went out and retrieved my equipment, picked some ripe tomatoes, and now am in for the day with plans to make a quiche for dinner. With sliced tomatoes for salad, of course!

I like to know varieties to buy for the next season for my customers to enjoy too. I just think its colors are great. It's hard to know what a color will actually look like from one little petunia flower to look at in catalog.
