Thank you so much! This was given to me by aco worker last week. It was me or the compost pile. Any tips on care?
Sure, like most potted tropicals, it likes warmth, bright light with some direct light over the shorter days of winter, a loose, porous, airy soil that does not get too dry. The roots form a tuber (just like a potato), and as it expands, it may need more room in the future. Keep an eye on the sides of the pot for bulging that might indicate the potato has enlarged enough to become squished against the side of the pot. When that happens, it can be difficult for water to penetrate all parts of the soil, and of course plants aren't people, but to use an anthropomorphic analogy, the pressure is probably similar to a person wearing shoes that are too small, cutting off circulation.
Co worker had a big plant, and this is a piece she broke away from it. I did see the roots! It should probably like my sun room in the south facing window. Thank you for your reply Purple
