Purple Astilbe growing back :)

Well I thought I had lost both my purple and pink Astilbes moving them from direct heat to shade and in October they was lifeless and looked totally dead...well the purple one is showing new signs of life but not the pink one yet

Astilbe are tough. I thought I've lost a few through the years, but they always re-appear each spring. I'm always happy to see them ... Astilbe is one of my favourites

 

Netty I didn't think they was a tough plant and thanks for that advice but as you say a glorious plant in flower, I really hope the pink one comes back, when I brought them the lady at the garden centre said they love the sun then I moved them by the fencing that gets just slight shade...I had to do these with them, as both our gardens are total sun traps.

Thanks. I would have gotten purple or pink, but they only had red ones left. It is very pretty. I planted mine where they will get part sun/part shade.... I hope it is a good spot for them.

Thanks so much and sorry for being late replying it is coming on good but I did think the pink one was dead and hubby digged it out and under the gravel was new small shoots, so he's potted it besides adding other plants in my other 4 spare ones

Deana did yours arrive?...these are mine when I first brought them and the pink is beautiful.

So far, mine has still not made its spring debut. I put a marker where I planted them. I am in zone 6, and we have had lots of mild weather. Everything else is up and budding or blooming. I hope they grow and bloom. I was thinking of asking the store where I purchased them last fall when I should expect them, but have not been able to get there yet.

 

I'm totally surprised yours hasn't showed itself having mild weather, as we've had cold nights but today it hit 60F...nice to hear your getting benefit from your other plants, my one red hot poker is flowering when it shouldn't be ...you get some Astilbes that flower early and some late, I hope this info helps in any way

Astilbes shine when many other shade loving perennials are waning. They bloom for 2 to 3 weeks. Depending on the variety, astilbes flower from early to late summer. Early blooming varieties begin to flower in late May or June while late bloomers begin in late July or early August.

Maybe it is a late bloomer? My peonies are tall and going nicely. They will bloom soon. My lilies of all kinds are up and going, as are the irises, fruit trees, etc. We have had good rains, and no really cold weather for some time.

 

Itcould be a late bloomer, my pink one which I thought was dead hubby as put in a pot and new shoots are showing but I did notice today that the bird had messed in the gravel
So all your other plants are doing well which is nice, a lot of mine are coming on good and this plant as got 10 stems forming now.

 

Most of my plants are doing well. I still have not seen my horseradish from last summer. It is the first time I have grown horseradish. There are plenty of weeds everywhere, but no sign of my horseradish yet.

I had bought at least 4 raspberry bushes, and only have 2 growing. I bought at least 4 blueberry bushes last spring, but they are just piddling and not doing much. Thankfully, the dwarf blueberry from a few years ago is going gangbusters. It is taller than I am.

Only 3 strawberry plants survived the winter, so I bought 3 more so far. Otherwise, they seem good.

I am glad your pink Astilbe is doing well.

 

Hello @AAnightowl you need to give them time..sometimes with how the weather goes that can make some take longer to come but at least your seeing some of your plants..my pink astilbe sprouted a bit over night but i'll get my hubby to take a shot of the other tomorrow
