We're the same as you've both got to enjoy the site looking nice though already and the seating area.
This is what I have been working on for the last two days. Eventually it will be either a small Crevice garden or just a gravel bed with 6 inches of gravel over the clay soil. It was edged with rotten wooden log roll type stuff, set in concrete. I had to use my big wrecking bar to lever them out and break up the concrete into small enough pieces to move.
I have not been idle this last week or so. This was a very dead stump with various self sown tree seedlings in and around it. There was also a very poor conifer in the way too. The stump was very rotten and collapsed while I was clearing the weeds away. The Laurel was a self seeded one too. The roots of the tree had rotted away so it was easy to turn it over It just fell to pieces. It filled a few boxes and bags. All cleared away and the hole raked over. Replaced the conifer with a Magnolia lilacifolia rubra.
Wow you really have been busy Palustris! I like your choice of the magnolia, and it looks as though you have allowed it enough growing room. You are like a gardener unleashed!
I am in admiration of you mate. You are working so hard. Getting some good results too. I am very much enjoying your progress posts. Chapeau.
The area next to the Car port was full of shrubs overgrown with bindweed, Lysimachia Firecracker and Euphorbia. So over the last few days I have attempted to clear it. As you can see a fair amount of Lysimachia Looking back towards the house. First section cleared. The Hydrangea and a Fuchsia magellanica alba removed. Fuchsia magellanica taken away. Replanted some of it elsewhere. Just the Olearia to remove. Managed to find some rooted pieces to go elsewhere. All cleared. There were half a dozen unnamed Fuchsias in the last bit. The old path was unsafe so I have moved it over slightly and made it more level with a slight slope down to the Frames. All it needs now is a brick edge and the soil turning over to make sure I have got out all the bindweed roots etc.
Wow, P, I am impressed with your energy level! All is looking good. So much cleared out. A clean slate to really create a beautiful garden
That is tremendous work that you have done already. So very impressive. Do you have firm plans for the spaces?
Wow, so much in such a short time. It looks fantastic. I have seen the Auriculas on Gardener’s World. Well done Palustris!! K
