Wow, P, you really have been busy! That is an incrdible amount of work. I once took out a row of old yews...low growing ones. So tough getting the woody roots out. It'll look so good with the new fence!
The last picture is of the section we have not touched yet. We are leaving that bit until we can have to fence put up fairly soon afterwards. Biggest problem is dealing with the brash as the Re-cycling place is closed because of the virus. I am having to shred as much as possible and spread it out on the parts of the garden which we have not yet begun to cultivate.

I just now finished reading this entire thread... And I must say, hard work and dedication ALWAYS pays off in the end. So in my opinion, Palustris deserves a gold medal!
Lockdown work The brash from the conifer hedge removal. Going, going, gone. And this is where it has gone to.
Chain sawing the branches and stumps. Going Going Going Gone The pieces can stay there until they have dried out and then a neighbour wants them for her log burner.
The work never ends, eh. I have taken my hat off to you and your accomplishments so often, I may be going bald.
Not going to be able to do much more as we need the new fence putting up and they are not working yet. Also need to go and buy some bags of manure/humus to add to the soil where the conifers were removed to improve its fertility. Garden centres are still closed. Really pleased with cutting the stumps into slices. It was a lot easier than we had feared. New sharp chain saw blades helped.

Yes, the lady from the hedge side did compliment us on the garden. There are a lot of empty spaces though. We cannot do much about them until a. We can fertilise the soil and b. Go to a Nursery for plants. We are busy making a list of things we would like so when the time comes it is going to be a very expensive time.

Not been sitting round. Raked over the top bed to make a fine tilth ready for the fences. Used up the broken roofing tiles to make a low retaining wall around one of the beds. Used some of the curved roofing tiles to edge the path round the top of the bed. It needs some mulch on it to finish it off. https://imgur.com/a/5gzTvvQ
Top path. We needed a path across the top of the garden to get from one side of the middle bed to the Drive. The bed has a curved top so the path followed that curve. I used some pieces of old concrete roofing tiles to make a low wall . I had enough to go round and down the drive a little way. I added a second layer. Finally I put a layer of nice stones which came from the old fire surround in the Living room. For the other side of the path I used some more concrete roofing tiles which were lying around the garden. There were enough of them to make the edging. I covered the soil with mulch from when we shredded the conifer hedge to make a soft surface.
