Yes I was going to make my own gardening tools. The project is half done, (put on hold because of the heavier than usual monsoon rains) - But don't worry, as I haven't abandoned that project. I will get back to it later, when I clear the backlog of other more pressing projects... In the meantime however, (now that the Coronavirus lockdown has been relaxed). I went to the shopping mall - Where I saw these! Their price tag was equal to less then a dollar. So I said, why not! I am building an big and indestructive gardening tool for myself, (which will probably last for generations). But these are so small in size, that there can't be any comparison. Making these ideal for transplanting very delicate seedlings.
I've found a similar set on Amazon. Seems like bonsai tree lovers are the ones who mostly buy these miniature gardening sets. Makes sense, as their work is also on a tiny scale. But highly complex... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B082MFH8YS/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_awdb_btf_t1_k77pFbV32V4T4
Yes, I do have an inbuilt hatred for large corporations of all type. Not always because they ruthlessly go out of their way to kill off all the little businesses. I instead dislike them because whenever anyone gets too big, they start throwing their weight around. And start to assume that they know better, (which they don't). Thus they try to make their own standards as part of the manufacturing process. After which they lobby to make it into a part of some legal requirement. Which also is actually secretly designed to make life though for the smaller manufacturer, (driving them out of business, while giving us no choice but to use an interior product of poor quality and design, but beautifully packaged)... However in this case, price and quality was the deciding factor for me, (not my contempt for big international brands). Because these really are very well made. So they were just what I had needed when it came to working with small stuff. I know it's off topic, but to just give one example - I use to buy automotive bulbs for my car which were locally manufactured. They were of extremely good quality, they lasted a very long time, and always burned very bright. Nobody had any complaints about them, and their price too was very fair. But them came the ISO manufacturing standardization, (basically an American regulation) - As well as CE, (Certified for Europe)... Now to live up to these new standards, manufacturers had to regulate their tooling and assembly lines. Some found this financially challenging, however the majority agreed, as it would standardize everything, (resulting in a stable and uniform product everytime). However you now also had to pay royalty to get the ISO & CE stamps on your products. Otherwise other manufacturers won't buy your goods to incorporate into their final products (as law dictates that must meet a certain standard). So no repairman will also buy your bulbs, as they also had to justify in their bills, that they used ISO & CE spare parts. However the royalty that automotive bulb manufacturer had to pay to get his bulbs the CE & ISO9000 certification, was proving to be too much... So for a while he continued without these ratings. However slowly his business started to dry up. As the buyers were forced to purchase CE and ISO products. Funny thing is that his bulbs were still superior in comparison. But if he paid the royalty for the CE and ISO certification, then the cost of his products would become extremely high. So that is how he went out of business... But before me closed down his factory - I at least bought a few boxes of a hundred bulbs bulk pack, (LED bulbs also). So I at least won't be running out of them in my entire life. However it's a real shame how this globalization and ISO + CE standards have ruined the manufacturing and industrial base - But guess what do people now do? They print fake ISO9000 and CE stamps on their products, (without any royalty paid), which are of extremely poor quality. But just because they now have the ISO and CE markings on they packaging, they believe that they have now washed away all their sins. Final result is that the end user now pays more, for a garbage product, which doesn't even last long... Sorry for this long and boring post, but I just couldn't help myself. As there is now way too much poison in me, (regarding this topic).
It’s good to have a rant especially about big business’s. Whenever I want anything and I put what I want, Amazan usually jumps in. Amazan is another multimillion company shoving small business aside. K
When the jobs are gone, who will buy their product? I always wondered, when does a man have enough money? There should be room in the market for more Businesses than a giant who owns everything. Lousy explanation, I know.
Anyone who works by and for themselves, (building up their own livelihood by their own hands) - Has my unconditional respect... And so anyone who enjoys to steal this privilege away, instantly earns my upmost contempt. Which I guess in part also explains why I am here. As we are all gardeners, and a lot of us can easily grow our own (pesticide free) food too. Big companies just wants us all to conform to their corporate lifestyle, (where we work for them only, and they provide us with sustainance from the supermarket). So not wanting to make this into another long post - I'll just say that I simply won't stand for it!!! I've got my skills. I've got my own tools and equipment. I've got my self sustainable off-grid lifestyle. And I've got a big rifle to defend it all. I am answerable to nobody. I owe nothing to no one. So I cannot be forced to do anything. And most of all, I am a patriot! Plus I don't fear much, (I have chewed up and spat out whatever nastiness others have tossed at me). This is why they all will hate me forever, and all others who are my type - As we can never be controlled or forced to do anyone's bidding...
SH, you're one among few. I would venture a guess that the majority are "Sheeple". It is an easier path, but it leads to slavery.
Totally correct Ma'am... 100%. And you know what comes next? Since I am among a tiny minority, I (and all others like me), sooner or later get labeled as "different"... Which obviously will invoke fear among the sheeple. So what eventually will follow is - Hammer the nail which sticks out... Si vis pacem, para bellum. Latin adage translated as: "If you want peace, prepare for war"... No matter what I try or do, I can't ever win, can I?
SH, I believe it was our Patrick Henry who said, "Give me liberty or give me death." I know that you will be among the last men standing. Such strength builds free countries.
