Well yesterday we really showed-off in the lottie, and today we are paying for it with sore and stiff muscles. It is amazing how quickly one gets out of shape when hiding from the rain a few days. We removed the parsnips and made that bed ready for the winter. But never mind, today we were processing the rewards of yesterday’s graft — the parsnip harvest. Here you see the majority of the harvest that will be blanched, the ones in the skillet will be fried for supper this evening. Well after a couple of hours standing there at the edge of the counter peeling and chopping we are taking a break, after all it is tea-time here. After the first cuppa and a tiny gravel of dark chocolate with sea salt the doorbell went! Who was it then? It was the chap from down the hall to whom I gave some apples. Remember that? I posted it on the second crumble posting, I believe. Well, there he stood with his bride...and they had brought an apple tarte tatin. A whole one! Look how nice and thin it is: It was still warm...oh me, oh my. Well, of course we couldn’t wait until after supper could we. We thought that we were well rewarded with the parsnip harvest, but the apple thing, well, an apple tarte tatin just suits me down to the ground innit.
Wow that looks good ! Have never eaten parsnips,, but sure have eaten apples ! Parsnips do not like Texas heat !
It has been a long time since I baked an apple pie. They were delicious. Also Apple crisp. The Tatin made me think maybe I will make Apple Crisp. That requires my recipe because it has been ages.
Will do, but it may be awhile. There may be a trip south and then the recall petition signing. Our Governor is unacceptable.
