Today we are washing clothing and glass jars. You can see that we have been eating pantry stock; however, it isn’t all us. Some of this is from folks that we have given honey or jam to, and they returned the cleaned empty jars. We wash them again anyway. We are also calling pals to touch base during these times. A little stroll in the park is on the schedule after the tea. It is windy and rainy, but we will walk in such a way that the wind will be in our backs. It is Beaufort 7, which is sorta stiff.
I treasure my canning jars! I'm sure I have more than I'll ever use, but "you never know!" Mart, I'd share some of my surplus with you, but I'd want them back when they are emptied. Sjoerd, it was windy here today, too. I'm not sure what a Beaufort 7 is, but we had 15 mile per hour winds, which made going outside rather uncomfortable.
Thanks MG but I have plenty of jars,, just meant since his were already washed and clean would save me the trouble of doing it ! Remember we live on a sand hill so anything that has been sitting on the shelf a while has to be re-washed before using !
Mart, I know about re-washing before use. My canning jars go into the dishwasher (bless its heart!) and get washed and heat dried. My husband says I must be part raccoon since I wash everything often, just like the 'coons wash their food!
To be honest, the only thing I've learned this year, is during the pandemic, is how utterly stupid and selfish so many, many, more people can be than usual. I've not learned a new skill, I've enough of the old ones, such as they are, to keep me busy.. So I wish all a happy Christmas and a safe New Year. I'll play you a Christmas song, on my "leccy piano." https://app.box.com/s/z3z9th6kj3jcnntjsjbj3g78htb39kc4
JANE— the Beaufort scale is what we use to express wind strength. See this link: https://www.rmets.org/resource/beaufort-scale We wash our jars a couple of times before using them, the dishwasher sure makes it easy to do that in bulk. MART— yeah, I have plenty of them...I would have brought them over to you if I lived down there.
I love this forum!!!!!! Constantly learning things, like what the Beaufort scale is, recipes, how and when to plant leeks among other vegetables, and what gardeners in other parts of the world have for techniques. I'd be a dull person without y'all . . . .
Haha MART— I look for ease as well...we have a saying here and that is, “ ease (or convenience) serves the people”. It sounds weird when I read it in english, it flows and sounds more normal in Dutch. Oh JANE— and we love you too. What you just said I could have said myself, I certainly think it all the time.
