Pulled beef green curry is simply a Thai green curry with the pulled beef stirred and cooked through. Normally we use chook or pork. We were being adventurous. Your meal looks very tasty to me. I have to find out what latkes are. Perhaps I know them by another name. Yeah, the chook looks especially good. I can’t tell if you removed the skin or not. I used my fingers to enlarge your foto and it appeared that there was no skin. Do you not like chicken skins or cooked it better without skins?
Cayuga, your latkes look delicious! Mine never are that pretty. Sjoerd, latkes are a potato pancake made with shredded potato, flour, baking powder, and egg for binder. they are made into patties and fried in vegetable oil. We serve ours with a dollop of applesauce on top, but a dollop of sour cream tastes great, too.
Gottit Jane. Thank you enormously. They are then, similar to what we call “rösti’s” I reckon. Similar, maybe not the same, exactly. But, I now have an idea. The use of sour cream or applesauce is interesting. Hmmmmm.
Sj, yes the breasts were without skin.... healthier that way? You just have to be careful not to over cook them so they don't dry out. We take them off the heat when they are still a tiny bit pink inside, then they continue to cook on their own. Rosti's? I'll have to look those up!
Oh, well Cayu...I don’t know if they are healthier without the skins or not. I do regard the skins as the tastiest bit on a chook though. Haha— it must be dad for one, by definition then. Chuckle. Back when I would cook now and then, I would lift up the skin and stick a few holes in the breast and then slip little slivers of pre- cut garlic into the knife point holes. Occasionally I woulld stick my finger under the skin, separating it from the muscle tissue...then smear a little paste I’d made over it then press the skin down and pin it in place with a toothpick. I have never had chicken exactly as you have shown. It looks very tasty, I must say. Last night we had Wiener schnitzel with fried spud weggies and Swiss chard with a quenelle of applesauce. I am still yumming.
Last night it was junk-food night here. We acquired a few new things and the old stand- by’s. Frikandel, chicken nuggets, cheese soufflés and fried potato’s. You can see examples laid out to be cooked in the air- fryer. Not very healthy, but good for a change.
Sjoerd, I saw a cute joke yesterday. This in no way reflects on your junk food night. You were air-frying it, so it's healthy!
Thanks for the chicken joke. You managed to cover several bases with that one. Chuckle. ....and you put me at ease, just knowing that air frying is like, oké. Oh dear me. The Bride and laughed ourselves double. Also, all those years on the farm and I never knew that chooks could talk. So, who’s the dumb cluck then.
We are having pasta tonight, spaghetti carbonara and French bread, with a few fresh veggies cut up and marinated in an olive oil/balsamic vinegar dressing. It's terribly cold outside, so we are having comfort food from a warmer clime!
Sounds delicious MG! Makes me hungry! This is what we had last night: confitted pork with fried yucca & green beans. The lemon goes on the yucca. And this is what I am baking right now:. Linzer Hearts. These will be mailed to our grandneice in Miami for her birthday.
Great posting, Cayu...great as well as interesting. I have never eaten yucca, I have eaten nopales but not yucca. I am interested. I do not have to tell you how much I liked the looks of your cookies. I do not know what are Linzer Cookies are though. i shall have to look those up. Very tasty-looking meal. BTW— I am fond of tuna ... that one looks awfully good as well.
Go for it, Netty. Post a pic as well. Mmmmmmm. Well, today we had such a large brunch that it will serve as our supper. We will only have something small for our evening meal. What we had for brunch was a stack of wentelteefjes. Here are the first ones: The first ones on the plate: Without and with maple surpel. It was a really decadent guilty pleasure. We haven’t had these for more than a year.
