    I've a lot of favourites.
This is Bea Wain, at the age of 22 in 1939.
    She lived to be 100.
This tune by Hoagy Carmichael is usually associated with young girls playing the piano, one playing the left hand and the other the right.
But this has had nearly two million hits. so many must like it.

This is Martha Tilton from 1944. She was very popular. The recording was used to close an episode of "Cold Case" on TV, as were other contemporary recordings from different eras in other episodes.

    Piano jazz.
A favourite version among many favourites versions of this of mine.

Six and a half million hits

A surprising combination a less "way out" performance from a jazz saxophonist and an underrated singer.

    One and half million hits.

Miles Davis moved with the times, this from sixty years ago. (I bought this album when it was issued)

He was prepared to take contemporary songs like this of Cyndi Lauper and add his interpretations, in 1984.
Listen to his "less is more" passage at 1.40, very emotive.

New young jazz singers keep coming along.

Tomorrow will be the 23rd of March. So that's a national holiday in my country, called the Pakistan Resolution Day - When in 1940 it was decided that an independent country called Pakistan will now have to be carved out from the subcontinent, (7 years later, on 14th of August 1947, Pakistan came into existence).

So on this day we hold the biggest military parade in this corner of the world.

Therefore these days I only get to hear military songs being played almost everywhere. Like this one below - Like this song, the lyrics of which mean: "At every moment we are ready, whatever the situation, we are always victorious". However the real message of this song is, come we dare you to attack us, cone and just try, then see what happens next...

It is actually a very old military song, but gets renewed from time to time.

My absolute favorite music is from Two Steps from Hell. Dont let the name scare you - one step from Hell is Earth, and two steps from Hell is Heaven. The music is epic!

This is one of my favorite songs

I would give today's music a chance, but finding even my new found singer/groups, actually go way back.
There is a lot of quite desperate sounding songs out at the moment, I notice even listening to Radio 2 it's becoming more like Radio1's music styles... which I am not even going there.....
Yes @Logan we know you only too well, as far as the Carpenters go..:)

I only seem to like the music that the artist passes away before their time.

I guess because there songs/music gets played and played for a while after their death..as a tribute to what they have left for us to enjoy.
