Today it is ugly here, but still we went to the lottie just to check things out. We also wanted to pick up some tulips for my bee-father and for us.

The daffs are still beautiful to see. The strip along the fence between us and the neighbour needed schoffeling.

There were other jobs that needed doing the past couple of days:
Here is a long double row of peas planted.

This little cage is to combat the voles and birds. The sides were dug in and the top was clipped closed with clothes pegs.

That job done, it was time for the improvement of clematis rack that I threw together with some tree poles an bamboo sticks. We picked up some discarded plasticised fencing to spread between the poles. Take a look—

We are looking at bad weather the coming days with not only wind and rain, but also hail and snow ! What a shame, I was just getting into the gardening mode.

For a change we have wall to wall sunshine here. It's actually a bit too hot (would you believe) to do very much in the garden. We did get the bench re-stained though and the pond raked of weeds.
Our daffs are all in full bloom and the trees are beginning to blossom. It'll soon be time to mow the lawn for the first time this year and to plant up tomatoes, Swiss chard and some lettuce amongst other things. It feels good to be able to think about planting again now that the snow. ice and frost have disappeared.

I am glad to hear about your sun there, Eileen. We had two days of it here a few days ago. I worked without a shirt in the garden and even perspired for the first time this season.
But you got a lot accomplished didn’t you. Well done. Yes, I am waiting for the final days of winter- like weather to go on and move away now. We are going to have three days of snow beginning perhaps tomorrow. Burrrrr. I hope that you will be spared over there.

Sjoerd, I read with interest your fencing over the peas. Please let us know if it worked to foil the darn pests!

Will do, Cayu. However, I can tell you that I did the exact same thing last year but on a very, very much smaller scale to see if it would work. It did, so I am doing it on a larger scale this year.

Cayu— You can see the small trial pen to the left of the netted patch with white hoops.

Good luck, mate. Just remember to dig that caging in properly deep.

Sjoerd, I so admire your gardens. It is a blessing to have a bride who enjoys growing food as much as you do.

Sjoerd, I think some activities are okay for one, but some are much better shared. Gardening is best shared.
