Hedgehogs are getting scarcer as their habitats have been under various threats with our life styles...I am really fond of Hedgehogs, when I first moved over here I was responsible for the death of one and still feel bad about it....6 years later, daft I guess....few facts on a short link .https://www.natgeokids.com/uk/discover/animals/general-animals/hedgehog-facts/ I do know they are not natural to the USA, but sure you would have some in wildlife parks/zoo's We do see them from time to time and if we walk around the garden just as it is getting dark we have seen them actually run away from us, not like a rocket though,,,little legs can still move faster than a snail..that is our Girlze Cat hogging the sun chair.. @Frank can you put the e in hedgehogs for me ,ta.
We've made a feeding station and some houses to go to but I don't know if they do. They travel a great distances every night.
Thank you @Logan but we have an area.for them.. open compost pile, we have entry into two sides of our Garden where there is no dog types of a hunting nature...we do not have a hog house and we do not put food our either....had thought about it though..with our cats no sure we can.
Yes you could feed them the cats won't hurt them, I put out dried food that's a puppy food because it's small.but here's another video on how to make a feeding station
Fun Fact: my late - great BIL who drove a UPS delivery truck for years had the nick name of Hedgehog. When he was a rookie driver (you guessed it) he took out someone's hedge. The name stuck.

This is unlikely to have a happy ending. I found a hedgehog stretched out on our small front lawn around 8.00pm last night. It was obviously very poorly. I thought it was dead, but when I gently prodded it, it moved, but didn't have the energy to curl up. So I took it into the back garden and put it in a corner of the bed next to the shed. It does make an effort to move about, but has great difficulty in walking. This morning I found it in the middle of the back lawn, as it was last night. So I put it back in the corner. I gave it some water and some dried meal worms but it wasn't that interested. It seemed to be having a few spasms. I've moved it again to this afternoon to this position under a rhodo. I gave it more water and more meal worms, I watched from a distance, it have a drink and eat a few meal worms. It's now curled up in a ball but I could see it was breathing steadily. It shows no sign of any injury and looks in otherwise good condition. it may have been poisoned, though I can't see how. I've not left anything out that would do it any harm. I'm not hopeful that it will still be alive tomorrow.
Well sadly I dug one up when we first moved here, it still upsets me, as it died soon after. Stuff happens unintentionally. I would think most people are aware of the Hedgehogs decline and if we can do a little more care in our Gardens maybe the Hedgehogs can survive.
Checked first thing this morning and there was no sign of the hedgehog. It obviously had drunk more of the water. Had a good lock round and again this afternoon when I came home from golf. Filled up the water and put out some more mealworms.
