Thanks @\Logan for posting that up... I added an extra L after reading the RHS Plant encyclopedia about Camelias..weird, I thought it had the one L..definitely listed as two though....any thoughts on that..

 

Started Cucumber & Pumpkin seeds indoors and did a flat of assorted perennials on Sunday.

 

Planted out two small tomato plants and picked what I think will be the last of the morels. We got what I think are 3 good sized hauls. This batch will be dried. Our small perennial garden has unexpected surprises this year.

Golf in the morning, didn't need a sweater it was that warm. Then went to a garden centre and bought and put in two clematis in the bed to the side of the garage. Also bought some cat food for the hedgehog. Put it out around 8.00pm and it turned up within half an hour to eat some of it.

Re-painted the door in the fence between the garage and the house. I replaced the door this time last year and I noticed that I could see bits of white wood where the tongue and groove planks from which was made had shrunk a tiny bit. Also re-painted the side door in the garage.
I'm going to re-paint the shed later in the week.

Tomorrow I'm going to get some pea gravel to sort out the drive. It's concrete but there's a 4" gap between it and the base panels of the party fence. It had gravel in this gap at one time but it's mostly gone now and we get weeds growing in it. I'll clean it out to a depth of around three inches and refill with gravel. It's not a big job.

This is a two year-old old photo. I sprayed this drive around this time last year with "wet and forget," the algae hasn't come back, so it's no longer "two tone green."

 

Potted on 18 verbascum and 26 verbena bonerenses.

 

Sorted out the drive along the side of the house. I call this "the alley of shame," as it's where roses my wife doesn't like end up. I refused to chuck them out.
The next move could be into the green bin in front of the garage door, so they have to be on their best behaviour. . At the moment there are four in tubs, plus two mayleen clematis which are permanent residents. There is space for a couple more roses should any become out of favour. There's about eighteen on the two patios. But I think they're all safe at the moment.

I dug out the mixture of soil, old chippings and debris in the 4" gap between the concrete drive and the base panels of the party shelf and replaced it with new chippings. I reckoned five bags were needed for ten panels. In the end I only needed four. But it's better to have that rather than buy four and find you need five.
I also "red leaded" the kitchen door step. and the top and bottom of was once "the coal hole."Which is now handy storage for all sorts.

You can see my £300 patch in the drive. The result of the repair of a broken soil pipe last year.



The low waney lap panels are now over 50 years old. They don't last much longer than ten to fifteen years these days.

The drive may get a coat of "wet and forget" tomorrow.

 

Potted on some 16 verbascum and 26 verbena bonerenses. Hubby cut the front grass not long ago.

 

Took photos of where the trilliums are and where varieties of mini Iris and double hellebore varieties are. Once the hostas are up I will photograph their locations also. Have mistakenly tried to plant things that already had something in what looked like a bare spot.
Did a lot of weeding. Only the berry patch and lilac areas left. The lilac area has a pair of nesting juncos so the weeds will probably go to seed before I get to them.

 

Got wet snow last night, so I had to go out and knock it off a few of my plants, like one of my shrubs that was being completely weighted down by it. By afternoon, it was all melted. May get more tonight, I'm not sure.

 

I re-painted "the rabbit shed" today.
We still call it that because that was what was its original function, to house our eight year-old daughter's expanding collection of rabbits and guinea pigs. She'll be fifty-three this year (own homes, four kids, no pets).

The back wall is that of the garage, the rest is made from re-claimed roodfing ply, re-claimed three by two and 3 re-cycled 1960s wooden kitchen windows from next door's when they had their double glazing fitted.

It's still in perfect condition, though I changed the roofing felt two years ago. It stays bone dry.








It is "multi-functional."





For a small shed, there's a surprising amount of room in it. Even a little bench on the left hand-side. Essential, as I can't get at my "proper bench" with its vice in the garage, as it's full of youngest son's surplus furniture!

 

Potted on 57 cosmos plants and watered the polyanthus plants around the path, always have to do it this time of year.

 

Thinned out my cosmos today and potted them on. Petunia are so small still..wondering, honestly whether they are useless..Purchased 10 good and healthy looking Petunias in the supermarket for 3.99 Euros Tempted to buy more now....Planted some seedlings of Lobella into our Flower Baskets and just hope they will be warm enough over night...Weeding and Hoeing.. endless this time of year...but very necessary to control them beasts...
Afternoon could not get outside as essential paperwork crept up on me...yearly tax return for starters...

 

Not much today just deadheaded some of the hyacinths and watering, need some rain.
