Ms Bartzella, an Itoh hybrid. I only get two blossoms a year from her. I suspect she needs a sunnier location, which I don't have. The bush though is very healthy. PXL_20210606_110220196_compress79.jpg

These pink peonies were rescued from a house in Westford MA. The couple had propagated some 200 peonies and when their house was sold, the new owners wanted them GONE! The local Community Garden folk moved in and managed to transplant about 150 of them in a weekend. I kid you not.
I have three of them. The deal is that if you help weed the peonies at this other Community Garden, you can take divisions for yourself. I went with a crew from our local Community Garden, weeded & divided. PXL_20210606_105529215.MP_compress22.jpg These are two simple ?Chinese peonies (ie not doubles or bomb peonies) that I got from a friend. She dug them up in full bloom, I planted them right away and they have bloomed every year since, like clockwork. PXL_20210606_105625749.MP_compress72.jpg
This one is 'Do Tell'. She's always a little washed out IMO PXL_20210606_105751970.MP_compress41.jpg More 'Do Tell'
(I really must do something about that listing umbrella. I just don't know what.)

Stay tuned..... I have two more peonies still in bud.

These are buds from Festiva Maxima that i cut about 5 weeks ago, wrapped in a plastic bag & put them in the fridge. Without water. I actually forgot about them & only discovered them when cleaning the fridge yesterday! It worked!!! Great way to extend the season of enjoyment.
