This was one of the several roses, banished to "the alley of shame" (the drive at the side of the house), by my wife, she dislikes red roses. this one was bought under false pretences years ago, as it should have been white. But every year it performs well and if it's a bit breezy "waves at her through the kitchen window." What this one did to deserve to be banished, I've no idea. I like it. More blooms on "the Rose Patio." David Austin, "Sceptered Isle." No idea about this one, the label has long disappeared A perennial favourite, "McMillan Nurse." "Timeless Purple." "Peachy" Doesn't look like that. I'm pleased with the spread of this euonymus, which I encouraged with several wires. Two years ago there was a three foot gap in the middle where we'd had a huge conifer taken down. You can still see the base of the tree trunk on the top of the rockery. Last showing of these clematis. The tortoise shell rhodo is nearly out, contrasts with a newer one. Ou sambucus in its big tub never lets us down. Always a good show of flowers. It makes a nice central feature.
Yes Cayuga it is, i let it flower and the bees love it. It's in the salvia family but it doesn't get eaten by slugs and very hardy, just cut the dead flowers off and use the leaves for the sausage, sage and onion stuffing, thanks.
Looks at those poles, reaching for the sky! Great pic. @Odif is it a running or clumping bamboo? I have a runner & I do battle with it every year. It does provide me with great plant stakes, poles to make trellises, etc. This year I'm planning on cutting lengths of it to bend into mini arches to make a kind of fencing in the garden. Can you picture it? What do you do with yours?
@Cayuga Morning Up until now, I have done nothing with it. It is a bit of a runner, but not too much. I have loads of space, so I only cut it out if it goes the wrong way. There are so many things to do with bamboo, I will probably use it for tomato stakes. The young shoots are good to eat.
I have never tried that, but of course I've had bamboo shoots in Chinese food at a restaurant! It just never occurred to me to try my own!
Field poppy in my garden, the flowers only last a day and don't know how it got there. First cosmos White allium
This This too! Well it’s not strictly in the garden, but I assure you, they are looking good in the garden.
