Nearly two years ago my wife randomly said, "You know I'm going to get a couple of goats." There was no stopping that train once it started rolling and nearly 35 years of marriage has taught me that when she gets something in her brain the best thing to do is just climb on board and go along for the ride. My mind went to how I can use them to help my gardening and the best way I could come up with was compost. I clean out the pen every two weeks and put down new shavings. Here are some pics of the compost pile. The first pic is one of the girls, Lily and May. The second pic is a pile of shavings that I just took out yesterday. The third pic is after six months. I think it's looking pretty good. I should have quite a bit of nice compost material for next growing season.
I used to keep goats when I lived in Australia. Wonderful creatures, and so intelligent ! Mine were Saanans like this....
