Any of you got the Christmas decorations up?

Our first Goldie would have taken ornaments off the tree, he was like that but the others I don't think so, but we had to be careful just incase. That's why also the ornaments are acrilic not glass.
When I was putting them on I left the gate open and berry saw the opportunity to have a look around but didn't take anything.

The mention of Christmas ornaments always reminds me of the tree lights my parents had when I was a child. These were pre-war and quite large, parcels, snowmen, animals, Christmas trees etc.,
They were mains powered and started off as a string of 20 wired in series so each would have consumed around 12 volts. The problem was that you couldn't get replacements, so if a bulb failed you'd have no lights. What you could do was to shorten the string. Each time you did it each lamp would be a bit brighter as it was using progressively more voltage!
This was a highly dangerous practice, but I bet a lot of people did it.

He is now our christmas ''green man'' - the poor thing has worked hard all summer scaring crows, and we thought we'd bring him in for a warm up :D

The rest is a bit less frivolous.

When we were growing up the lights didn't have a transformer because now the bulbs themselves are low voltage. Remember dad joining 2 sets together to make them longer. Or putting 2 sets of wires in one plug.
