One Day It’s Chips, The Next It’s Paths

It is a bit early, but it’s time to do the paths again. Yesterday after fooling around in the garden, we made a little run to where the municipality dumps wood chips. They have a city wide pruning program which goes on for a few weeks. They prune the trees along roads and streets as well as in the parks. We had seen them at work and that was what motivated us to have a looksy.

Ir was late in the day, but we decided to go back to the garden and pick up some trugs and Norwegian bin liners, figuring we could let the chips sit in the auto overnight.

Here stands my Bride with a bin liner full of chips to be lifted into the auto.


Then when the auto was full of trugs and bin liners it was off to home....or perhaps back to the lottie to store them overnight. It was five trugs and six bin liners. We went back to the lottie.


So, back we went today. It was very windy but the sun shone now and then. The path that needed the most attention was the veggie boulevard. First the composted old chippies out.


Then some digging and then we loaded the contents of five trugs into this path. It is wide and deep.


Then from the opposite side.

This is the sort of begin-of-the-season activity that gives one the first stiff muscles of the season.

We have a few good piles from when the electricity boys trimmed the trees earlier, but as we're finding it hard to light the bonfire this winter, and because we're moving from peat to using composted bark, we decided to buy a chipper

Not managed to get it started yet It might be that it doesn't like the new petrol so I've drained it out and bought a gallon of premium 97 octane today, keep em crossed

Thanks mate, I sure hope so. The flower garden is slowly coming alive and the veggie garden is nestled cosily under a super thick layer of plant debris. I won’t be peeling it back to plant anything for quite a few weeks yet, but I have good hopes.
