We were walking to our allotment from the clubhouse a couple of days ago and came by this garden. It is the garden of an artistic lady who began a few years ago and now is a confident and capable gardener ( doing her work alone ). We couldn’t help but notice what she was doing there in the front of her garden:

Of course we had to stop and chat. We were talking about garden paths and woodchips that were now available at different places in the city. At one point in the conversation she came right out and said that after checking out our paths when we were renewing them last year, that she was now using the same technique. We told her where she could find more chips for that front section.

A couple of days later, I took this pic showing that she had found the chips and filled in that front length of path, connecting it to the stretch in the back that she had already done.

It is always fun to be able to answer questions and illustrate the explanation to an interested gardener, but when they actually take-up that knowledge and use it...well, it is the greatest form of compliment.

You must feel really chuffed that you could help a fellow gardener.

How nice that the artistic gardener has such a great resource for information (you). And how nice that she followed up and got the path mulched. Win, win, win, everybody wins!

Mart—I am proud, naturally. But of course the woman had an idea and went about finding solutions. I like that quality in a gardener.
Jane — Thank you so much. It looks like we see her the same way.
