Our cat Timi likes to sit on the shallow, small butterfly waterer and drink. She has fresh, clean water on the porch, but she likes the grubby stuff.
Yup, cats will cat. I've seen them leave a freshly cleaned water bowl in order to jump up and perch precariously on the edge of the horses' water trough to drink there. Puddles as well. Puddles!
Hah. I put out a fresh bowl of water every morning for our stray/outdoor kitties. And they still prefer to drink the water that collects on top of the small outdoor side table that the food dish sits under
