We had lots of rain this week and it has really made the gardens POP! Just look at the size of this rhubarb! (sorry about that black strip ... not sure what happened!) This year I counted my Hosta varieties and I think there are 67 different ones! Here is 'Sagae' and 'Grand Prize' Here is a favorite, 'White Feather' Some Oriental poppies in bloom My Mothers beloved peony is starting to bloom too! Still don't know the variety that it is, but it is the plant that started my love of gardening as a child. She planted it back in 1957, and a few years ago she gave me a piece, and now it is also in my daughters garden
I can see why White Feather is your favourite Netty. It's gorgeous. You have such lovely gardens. I can only wish that mine were as well planned out as yours.
Netty, your garden takes the 2022 Gardenstew Beauty Award (GBA-2O22). As decreed by me! I love your peony story. What is the maroon plant growing on the right in your first photo?
So beautiful Netty. I agree that the White Feather hosta is a favourite. So beautiful. You could play hide and seek in that Rhubarb patch.
@Cayuga Morning The dark leaved plant on the right of the 1st picture is Ligularia, but I'm not sure on the cultivar. It came as a tiny piece from a friends garden a few years ago. The yellow flowers aren't very attractive, I grow it for the gorgeous foliage!
You have such a lovely garden! Well done with your Hosta collection. 67 is a respectable number. I admiire your White Feather. We've tried it twice, no luck, so we gave up. I've heard the same story from several Norwegians. It might not like our climate. I've planted Zebra Stripes instead. The wandering Peony is a beauty! So many people have peonies they got from their grandparents who got them from an old neighbour who brought it with her from her childhood home etc. Peonies must be the best-loved inherited plant I know of.
What Cayu said. Oh Netty, I like seeing all that you’ve got on show. Your landscaping and plant selections are stunning. The flower plots are super. What a delight to see this posting of yours.
Oh Netty, how beautiful, how blessed to get rain at just the right time. We sure could use a few rain showers.
