Yesterday we spent some time in the lottie. We had a visit, gave water and harvested some veg. We harvested a load of spuds and gave them to our visitor. There were some toms that were so ripe that I did not dare let them stay another day. There were also several bean sorts just hanging around and beetroot. I had broken the onion’s necks some days ago, and now I will put them together to let the foliage dry out before making the storage string. Today we spent the morning and part of the afternoon blanching the bean sorts, beetroot sorts and making tomato concentrate. It was a great day off.
Beautiful harvest @Sjoerd! You deserve a break. I may go out this evening and check the squashes and bean seedlings. Turn on the drip system for an hour. Most things are watered. Anxious to get some fresh tomatoes, I hope soon. We had zucchini bread and I took a loaf to the clinic too. Volunteering at free clinic today where I do registration. It's a nice change and the air conditioning is great!

Beautiful harvest! Do you freeze your beets after blanching Sjoerd? I've only ever frozen the greens, and I pickle the beets. I do enjoy roasted beets though...it never occured to me to freeze them.

Sjoerd, you do have more to harvest, correct? Everything looks great, but the onions make me most envious. As I have whined about before, lack of rain and abundance of starving groundhogs mean our gardens have produced little. We're thankful for what is growing. (Our efforts to beat the groundhogs at their game is a failure)

Sjoerd, one Groundhog I might be able to feed. The daddy is gigantic. The mama is only a bit smaller, they produced 5 offspring, all good at digging beneath fences.
