Winter Hobby

It gets pretty cold here come January to March, and sometime into April. We have had temps as low as -30 degrees (thats with the wind chill factor). So during those cold months, when I am not working, I color. I have a room dedicated just for it.
I guess you could say I have a ton of markers/pens/paints. I color all sorts of things, from many different artists. Yes, I can draw, but I prefer to just do the coloring. I also create digital art, when my hands start to hurt from coloring.
Some of it is abstract (the digital art).


So, this is my winter hobby.

 

Oooh, nice! You must have a lot of patience for that I guess? Thanks for showing it. I do genealogy during winter and play an assortment of games for relaxation.

 

@Droopy - Thank you! I have been accused of having a lot of patience, yes. For me, it is very relaxing. Lineage of family..? That must take patience as well, finding all the correct people and names.

 

Nah, the Web has lots of lovely, informative sites to look now, even digitalized records of the Ellis Island immigrants. As long as I have a starting point research is pretty smooth in most cases. Takes a lot of time to punch names, dates, etc. into the program I'm using though, but I like the research.

Wow, thats amazing! I'm a horrible artist, so I can appreciate the work that goes into that!
My winter hobby is also genealogy. Last year I taught myself how to do stained glass. My daughters figure skating also takes a lot of my time. Around March or early April, its back into gardening with the planting of seeds!

 

Thanks Netty. Interesting, 2 geneaology pro hobbiest , thats really neat! I know sports for kids takes up a lot of time. Thats when I start outside too. This year it was in April, I was outside in a tank top, it was 45 degrees. I worked up a sweat and got some color to my white bones.LOL

Amazing! Wonderful job and talent LL. When my adult girls come home...we colour. We sit and visit...and colour. Your steampunk kitten is fabulous! ( Thanks for the heads up for the name there Frank ). Very beautifully done and I would think relaxing.

 

Thanks Melody. Yes, it is so relaxing. I put on my classical music, and just dive in. I color for hours upon hours. I guess you could say its my 'alone' time, when Im not in the garden. The steampunk kitty is one of my favs, I really like how the eyes turned out.

Oh, and my 1st dried flower arrangement. I like it. Its simple, but fall-ish.
