Schlumbergera update. That last one is about 15 years old, maybe 20. I should start some cuttings this winter. I started it from cuttings someone left on the break table at work. Historical note: These cacti were named for Frédéric Schlumberger (1823–1893). Despite the angry sounding, gutteral name, he was French. Then again, his father came from Alsace, so who knows? Schlumberger was a cactus hobbyist in Rhouen in Northern France. However the cacti originate in treetops and rocks in coastal Brazil, from shady, humid climates.
Lovely Daniel I was going to start next months thread with Tetter's white Schlumbergerdachundsobergruppenkrankenwaggon but you beat me to it Good bit of cactus history there
