Good Wednesday morning all. Currently -1°C and overcast.
We had a fabulous family dinner last night, and we were all up way past our bedtime. Now that our Christmas gatherings are all over I can do some serious cleanup around the house.
I'm also making bone broth today from the turkey bones, so it smells delicious in here!
Its going to be a day of puttering around the house as I don't have to go out anywhere today.
Have a great day all :)

Crazy drive to town today with rain and icy roads. We thought it best to go today, rather than tomorrow when the snow comes and hide the ice. World Junior Hockey is on so Hubby is excited.

@Sjoerd - we call it Udder Butter, but what the actual name is Bag Balm. It is a lanolin based medicated cream. Mildly antiseptic. The one we use smells. It is clear, kind of green. Smells like antiseptic. It is not something one would buy as a cosmetic. We used it for the cows and goats, when their udders started to crack or get sore. We had great hands when milking. :) I had forgotten about it until my daughter brought it home from Nome. They used it on their hands, as well as on the feet of their sled dogs.

It is stinky, but it sure works great on cracks and splits.

Good Thursday morning all. Currently -1°C and overcast.
I'm off to do my errands and shopping, only this week I'll be at the rink first! Not too many groceries needed today, just some fruit, veggies, a loaf of bread and some TP.
Have a great day all :)

Ran across this the other day…Speaking of TP… remember during Covid lockdown how short the stores were… well this guy was delivering TP rolls with his DRONE…from his Facebook orders.

Good Friday morning all. Currently 6°C and overcast. The driveway has melted into a lovely layer of ice with water on top, and it was SO slippery. Its amazing I didn't go down!
Off to the rink this morning for a private lesson with the Coach - gotta get back at it before the competition in January!
Then to the bank to do some skating club banking and home to pay my bills. Its bad luck to go into a new year with old debts!
Have a great day all :)

Netty good luck at the rink practice for the big January competition. Keeping in shape and core muscles strong in winters too. Good for you! :smt041

Good Saturday morning all. Currently 8°C and raining. It will rain all day today, and there is lots of rain in the forecast this week. We have our typical pop up lake on the front of the property, which if frozen, would make my skater very very happy!
I guess I should have specified that it is my daughter that skates, not me haha But thanks, its important that she keep in form during the holidays.
Its going to be a lazy day for us today, and no big plans for bringing in the new year. Just a good supper and some wine.
Have a great day all :)

Netty, Just a good supper and some wine. You are a girl after my own heart!
We de-decorated the house today so all the garlands, candle rings, and Santas are stashed away for next year.
I have a simple casserole planned for dinner, and then we will toddle off to bed well before the midnight madness. Tomorrow the tree will be de-decorated and the ornaments will be carefully put away.
Hoping all enjoy their New Year's Eve in any way they want!

It is snowing like the dickens out there right now. Hubby and I are having fun trying some new recipes from a cooking magazine a neighbour gave me, and prepping them for supper. More like appies. Then we are finishing off the Shitz Creek box set out daughter gave us. What a hoot that show is. Lots of laughs.
He will catch the World Juniors Canada Hockey match at 3:30, dinner around 6, and then probably bed by 8. zzzzzzz

Tomorrow is my tree down and Christmas away day @marlingardener. It was quite the season, and it always feels good to have a fresh start and a do-over. :)

Happy New Year all! Currently -1°C and snowing.
I made it to midnight all alone, just me and my Baker Creek seed catalogue! haha At least I've got my 2023 garden completely planned out early!
Its going to be a quiet day around the house. I may take down the Christmas tree tomorrow, and all the other decorations today.
I'm going to make a big batch of schnitzel today for dinner, and tomorrow we all get back to reality!
Have a great day all :)

Good Monday morning all. Currently 1°C and overcast.
January 2nd and time to get out of holiday mode and back to reality.
I've started deep cleanout in my craft room, where I found years worth of old gardening magazines. I've decided its time to part with them, so I'm going to be reading them all again, one last time. Anything I like will be cut out and added to my garden journal, and the rest recycled. That was a hard decision for me as I've had them many years, and even moved them twice. I'll probably check and see if my daughter/grandson wants to read them first. Time to get the clutter out of this house!!
I think the Christmas tree comes down today as well.
Have a great day all :)

Netty, I sympathize over your gardening magazine potential loss. I have cookbooks that are old, and I hang on to them, even through moves!
We de-decorated the house and took the tree down yesterday, so today we are relaxing, watching the Rose Bowl parade, and having leftovers for dinner. The temperature is 68 right now, and predicted to get to the mid-70's by this afternoon.
My darling husband brought home a lovely bird calendar for the kitchen. Either he is very thoughtful, or thinks I don't know what day it is!

I too identify with sorting thru garden magazines. Was always good info and lots of plants.
It’s very hard to part with them all. Great idea to add articles to your garden journal.

And yes all those cook books. I still have my grandmothers recipe books . Some really old 40-50’s from jello and various other food products. Some are collector items. I’m afraid I didn’t inherit my grands love for cooking.

I did a edit on all my books a couple of years ago. Decisions…devisions…very time consuming, but winter is a good time to be up for the challenge..even crafts … yikes.. very tricky. I made a slight dent in many areas.
So for now I’m holdin on to most of the cook books … many for sentimental value.

Good Wednesday morning all. Currently 1°C and overcast.
I slept in today! That hardly ever happens, so I'm grateful for the extra 2 hours sleep! But I do feel like the day is already passing me by!
Thankfully theres not a lot going on today, just skating tonight for a few hours.
    I predict a lazy day!

We missed the tornadoes yesterday as they went south of us. Today is soggy but brightly sunny and coolish with no winds to mention.
