Zigs.. very artistic mail box…. clever style …
Mailboxes do have a tendency to need replacing eventually ….ours is in sad shape , still standing. Been knocked over once .

The use of mail boxes for the collection and delivery of letters in the USA has always fascinated me.
Mention of them always remind me of this film.

Here in the UK where the road is usually only a few yards from the front door, there's no need for mail boxes and to post a letter there's usually a red pillar-box on the next corner.

The part of this concoction where the bug hotel is (which Zigs made as a surprise) is part of the old stumpery I made a few years ago. The aim was to encourage insects and birds as well as creating snug places below for hedgehogs. That tall piece is a hollowed out section of a tree trunk. The whole stump arrangement has turned into a mini zoo. We've seen all sorts of interesting beetles there, and it's a good place for our birds as well.

The owner of this mailbox thinks it's a wild animal.

Very secure box. In some rural neighborhoods summertime seems to invite foolishness by teens with too much time on their hand. Popping in firecrackers in mail boxes total out a road of boxes. It is a federal crime..

I saw these on my route today. There's something fishy about the first one.

For some reason, this one matches the neighbor's house, not the house behind the mail box.

I had to crop out the sign behind the fish mailbox - it had a profanity on it. It was a street sign that said ****hole road. I think there are some characters in that neighborhood. At the house where I deliver, the words "Go Away" are permanently painted onto the wheelchair ramp.

Those are a couple of fancy mailboxes, Daniel. The one with the bass looks sort of realistic. I would rate that one 8, on a scale of 10.
I was surprised to here about the extra sign texts. I do not really get why folks do that.

This is a thread that I have found so interesting, such a shame that I cannot contribute as we do not have many mailboxes over here. I couldn’t even tell you where the closest one is…or if there even is a close one. You just don't see them.

I love the new post-ings in this thread! @Zigs, are the insects post-uring when you collect your mail? A caged mail box seems a bit over the top, and I think I'd think twice before retrieving mail from that fish...

The fish box makes me want to go fishing…we use a trail cam a lot to catch critters around … they blend right in with the environment sine they have the camo disguise.

I did a web search on the big mouth bass. It looks like they were once for sale, but it's not on Amazon now. The house mailbox would be easy to make. I drive past both of those every week now.

I use a locked mailbox, for medication and other deliveries. I have a planter made from cinder blocks next to it, which has deflected cars and trucks from the mailbox on more than one occasion.

Oh, @Tetters, NO! We had one that sang "Take me to the river" and now all my nightmares are back!
